Dusit Princess Hotel Review in Korat Thailand
The Dusit Princess Korat Hotel is located in the city of Nakorn Ratchasima, just a 3 hours drive from Bangkok and is a popular gateway to Thailand's Northeastern Isan provinces.
I recently stayed there for 1 night while traveling on my way to Phimai Historical Park and Khao Yai National Park. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring many natural attractions and ancient Khmer style temples which makes it perfect for travelers looking to expand their horizons outside of Bangkok. There is definitely no shortage of photographic opportunities in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The Dusit is a very popular brand name hotel that is pretty much famous throughout the Kingdom known for quality hotels and professional, friendly service. It is also known as one of the most expensive hotel groups in Thailand. However, the Dusit Princess is one of the most affordable hotel out of the group, low enough to be considered budget by Western standards yet the quality and service of the property is in the 3 to 4 star range. But I think the lower rates has more to do with the area as opposed to a reflection of the hotels quality. Nakhon Ratchatisma is unlike Bangkok where everything is certainly much more affordable when it comes to food and lodging.

Pleasant Service and Decent Rooms
I was immediately impressed with the Dusit upon arrival. The lobby is not large and grand in scale but I would still consider it classy with its high ceilings and contemporary designs with a touch of Thai style.
Upon arrival their reputation for friendly service is well deserved. I was greeted with a nice glass of lemongrass tea and led to the reception where I was met with all smiles from the staff on hand. The receptionist who helped me spoke fluent English as well as the others as I could tell who were assisting other guests.
Checking in was super quick. I booked a superior room through Agoda.com because I found better rates there compared to booking through Dusit Princess Korat's website directly. From Agoda at the time I paid 1650 Baht, about US$54 dollars which included breakfast. Dusit's website quoted 1950 Baht. Needless to say I booked my room through Agoda.com.
I had a pleasant surprise though because I was given the keys to the 9th floor which I knew was where the deluxe rooms were located. Which also meant I would get free Wi-Fi.
I was given room #906 with twin beds because no rooms with king sized beds were available then, which was not problem at all. My room was about 28 sq. m. so about average in Thailand. The room was very clean and nice but compared to the other Dusit sister properties its nothing to write home about. What really bothered me was the small and totally out of date in-room safe. It's probably only good for keeping documents and my iPod secure but notebook computers would be a problem. The hotel is very well secure and crime is possibly really low in Korat but it's always good to provide a bit of peace of mind for guests.
But overall it's still quite a pleasant hotel to stay in and I know I would definitely come back whenever I'm visiting Korat.
