A great place for your next family vacation!
Whether you're looking for ideas on where to take your next family vacation, or you'd like some tips on where to spend time on your already planned trip to Minnesota, you've come to the right place!
Minnesota, or the "Land of the 10,000 Lakes", is a fantastic destination for family traveling. When you get to Minnesota, you'll hear all about the phrase "Minnesota-nice" which holds true after you meet some locals. Their charm and hospitality is truly wonderful; they take pride in their sense of community.
Sunny skies? Doesn't matter! You can plan every last detail of your trip with the exception of weather conditions. Unfortunately, some vacations can be ruined or greatly affected because of bad weather; not true with Minnesota! Most of the popular family destinations are inside. Don't worry though; lighting, pumped-in fresh air and enormous windowed ceilings will trick you into thinking that you're outside.
This article highlights some of the most popular family activities to try out while you're in Minnesota.
Mall of America
Think the Mall of America is just a bunch of shops (500+)? Think again! Mall of America is also home to a huge indoor Amusement Park that will give your family tons of thrills, rain or shine.
You can spend days in the Mall of America. Plan on spending at least two days alone in their indoor amusement park. Your kids will think it's cool to tell their friends back home that they got to ride on an indoor rollercoaster! Kids favorite part of the indoor themepark is Nickelodeon Universe. It boasts themed rides such as Dora the Explorer for the little ones and Spongebob Square Pants for everyone else.
There is also an indoor aquarium to visit as well as a mini-golf course and a flight simulator.
Rain or shine, you can spend days inside the Mall of America.
Minnesota State Fair
"The Great Minnesota Get-Together", or the Minnesota State Fair, is one of the most beloved activities that this state participates in. You have plenty of time to experience it, as it runs for 12 weeks through August and September. It boasted over 1.5 million visitors last year, alone.
You can easily spend 2-3 days at the fair enjoying all the agricultural visits as well as the many carnival rides.
A fun fact about the Minnesota State Fair is that they are famous for serving over 50+ foods "on a stick." Everything you can imagine! Fried twinkies, pickles, cheesecake, cheese curds, you name it, and it's there. Also make sure to try out their famous Sarsaparilla Floats (sarsaparilla soda and frozen custard)
Radisson Hotel Bloomington and the Waterpark of America
Radisson Hotel Bloomington is one of the top family hotels in the country. Why? They have a HUGE indoor 5,800 square feet water park. Your kids won't believe it. It is gigantic. The park is so huge that an estimated 300,000 gallons of water are used to fill the reservoirs and keep the water flowing. The Radisson Hotel Bloomington is also right across the road from the Mall of America; you can see it from the hotel's parking lot. Stay at this hotel and take advantage of the discounted Waterpark of America family-stay rates. The lobby has a fun modern rustic feel to it and the hotel also has two restaurants, the Split Rock Grille and the Sleepy Eye cafe.
