Holland America Cruise Cabins

While most cruise ships are cruise experience first and stateroom second, leaving the stateroom in a sort of motel-like living style, Holland America Line provides rooms so luxurious and spacious that guests often don’t feel a need to leave. While staying in a Holland America Line cabin, there often seems to be an endless amount of amenities that are complimentary or even already installed in your room.

The Cabins

Penthouse Suite

Has a bedroom, living room, dressing room, dining room, pantry, sofa bed, refrigerator, powder room, large windows, verandah, stereo system, and microwave. In the Bedroom is a king size bed, oversized whirlpool bath and shower. The Penthouse Suite is the most luxurious and largest suite that Holland America Line has to offer at sizes of 1,126 - 1,318 square feet with a private verandah as well.

As if having a suite in the penthouse wasn’t special enough, the generous people at Holland America Line decided to include an exclusive pass for to the Neptune Lounge which is a private location for relaxation, socialization, and services by a friendly concierge. This pass is only for those who stay in Penthouse Verandah Suites or Deluxe Verandah Suites. These lounges include large televisions, couches, chairs, wi-fi, libraries, and refreshments. When the Neptune lounge is not open, One-Touch Concierge Services are available 24-hours per day. The Penthouse Suite is the most luxurious and largest suite that Holland America Line has to offer at sizes of 1,126 - 1,318 square feet with a private verandah as well.

Deluxe Suite

Has a bedroom with two beds that can convert into a single king-size bed, private verandah, dressing room, large sitting area, sofa bed, large windows, mini-bar, and walk-in closet. The size of the Cabin is about 488 - 700 square feet with a private verandah.

Amenities for Deluxe Suites include those of Superior Suites as well as :

  • Complimentary dry cleaning and laundry
  • Complimentary champagne and bottled water
  • Premium bathroom items
  • Corsages and Boutonnieres for one formal night

Superior Suite

Only located on Vista Class and Signature Class ships, Superior Suites have 2 lower beds that can convert into a single queen-size bed, a bathroom with two sinks, a whirlpool bath, shower with two separate stalls, large sitting area, sofa bed, private verandah, and a sliding glass door. The cabin size is about 398 square feet not including the private verandah.

Amenities for Superior Suites include those of lower class staterooms as well as:

  • A large variety of pillows of all sizes and feels
  • Mini-bar
  • Over-sized bath towels
  • Concierge service
  • Flowers
  • DVD Library


Verandah Suites have 2 lower beds that can convert into a queen size bed, a whirlpool shower and bath, sitting area, mini-bar, private verandah and glass sliding door. Not including the verandah that is with every room, the cabin size is from 284 to 398 square feet.

Amenities for Verandah Suites include those of lower class staterooms as well as:

Lanai Staterooms

Lanai Staterooms are the newest addition of stateroom type to Holland America Line ships, exclusive to only those ships that will/have undergo/undergone enhancements under the Signature of Excellence Program: ms Statendam, ms Veendam, ms Rotterdam, and ms Maasdam. These staterooms provide doors that open straight into the promenade, generous space, and décor that includes soothing earth-tones. In each stateroom are sliding glass doors, deck chairs outside the doors, a pair of lower beds that can be converted into a queen size one, and a shower and bathtub. The Cabin size is 197 square feet.

  • Beds of luxury
  • Towels made from 100% Egyptian cotton
  • Massage showerheads
  • Makeup mirrors and hairdryers
  • Complimentary fresh fruit
  • Ice bucket and serving tray
  • Flat screen TV and DVD player

Ocean-View Staterooms and Interior Staterooms

Ocean-View Staterooms and Interior Staterooms each have two lower beds that are convertible into a single queen size bed, a bathtub, and shower. The amenities of ocean-view and Interior Staterooms are the same as Lanai staterooms with the only difference being that Ocean-View staterooms have views of the ocean while interior staterooms do not. Ocean-View cabins are about 185 - 197 square feet while interior cabins have sizes that vary from 143 - 207 square feet.


Spa Suites & Staterooms

Spa suites and staterooms are online found on select ships and have amenities such as an ipod docking station, yoga mat, and countertop water feature. These rooms are located near the resident Greenhouse spa and salon where services can be easily reserved. The ships that offer these suites and staterooms are ms Eurodam, ms Ryndam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Statendam, ms Rotterdam, and ms Veendam.
