How to Go to Boracay from Kalibo Airport

Source

This post is to answer the question on how to go to Boracay from Kalibo airport? Because many travelers and interested people were asking from my 25 Activities and Adventures to do in Boracay Island Philippines hub. We know there are three ways on how to get to Boracay, two of which by air and one by Roro (boat and ferry). But in this post, I’m gonna discuss about going to Boracay via Kalibo airport with some directions, a map, and a bit of expenses.

Boracay Island in the Philippines is famous in the world for its powdery white sand and azure water. Not only it’s one of the best and most beautiful beaches in the world, it’s also so cheap and very affordable to go there and spoil yourself with a relaxing and exciting beach holiday. There are also hundreds of fun and adventure packages to dare you once in your life.

Since the most common mode of going to the island is by plane, the easiest of them is by Caticlan Airport. However due to fully book schedules especially during summer and working holidays, flights to Caticlan aren’t available on those times if not so expensive. Especially flights like Manila to Boracay or Cebu to Boracay, even from Singapore to Bora. The other option is take the Kalibo route.

Kalibo Airport. And for everyone’s information, Kalibo Airport is now an International Airport. It connects Kalibo to Taipei, Shanghai and Seoul as well. The airport’s runway can able to serve larger aircraft like Boejing 737 and Airbus A320. Airlines like Cebu Pacific, AirPhil Express, Zest Airways, Philippine Airlines, and China Airlines transport people here.

Disadvantages

  • Takes 90 minutes to Caticlan – you need to tire a bit while traveling on a van or bus
  • Will cost you for a van/bus ticket

Advantages of going to Boracay via Kalibo

  • It connects to few countries
  • You can experience sightseeing on the way to Caticlan – see greenish hills, some rivers and amazing view like Bohol. Trip from Kalibo to Caticlan takes about 90 minutes.
  • Some flights are cheaper in this route

How to go to Boracay via Kalibo airport? It’s a 3-stop-trip – Kalibo airport, Caticlan Jetty Port, and finally Boracay. First, you have to book a flight of course either from Manila to Kalibo, Cebu to Kalibo, wherever you’re coming from. Once you get there in Kalibo, there are vans, coasters and buses to bring you to Caticlan Jetty Port. Van and bus services usually cost P150 per person. Once you get to the jetty port, you have to buy a ticket and pay for an environmental fee. It costs a total of P125. You’ll be then in Boracay’s white beach after 15 minutes. Once you’re there, there are lots of vehicles to cater you wherever you want to go. If you already booked your hotel, often they will pick you up there. If you haven’t booked any hotel yet, no worries, you can just stroll around and find the one that suits your taste.

Life is a beach! So visit as many beaches as you can.

It seems you love the beach so much that you compared it to life. Well, I dare you to visit the beaches of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

twentyfive, the route from Kalibo to Caticlan is like the tropical version of the pacific coast highway in California. i would emphasize "tropical" so that they would found out for themselves. you know what, although not related to your topic but since we are already talking about plane routes, i have this sentiment that only visayas and luzon is favored. because, us here in mindanao have no direct route to either kalibo or caticlan. we had to go to manila or cebu. you know what we did? we flew from davao to iloilo then took the trip from iloilo to caticlan. it was a grueling 5-6 hour ride. we could have taken it from Manila but of course, we were on a budget. anyway it was a lesson learned. i wont recommend it unless you want to see the landscape of iloilo. i wish Gensan or Davao would soon have direct routes to some of the famous local destinations. like Legaspi for one. i want to go to Donsol...i hope someone who is connected to the airlines would be able to read my comment and would take action. if not feasible, at least explain why... great info you have and great hubs... Hi Charlene. A beach is such a beauty, so deep and alive. It speaks a lot of poetry too LOL Oh wow, did I say poetry? I write poetry, too in case you wanna check out..they’re at blaise25.hubpages.com Damn, I am so wanting to go to Pagudpod. I am looking for friends as I don’t wanna go alone. My friends are out of budget in the moment. I wanna visit the lovely Ilocos. Are you from Ilocos? Those vintage houses and pretty beaches are fantastic. You should be proud of 'em. Thank you for dropping by.

Hello Anjperez! My middle name is Perez. :) Yup, indeed. The view is breathtaking. I was wondering if I was on another country. LOL Kalibo, Aklan is such a pretty place. Definitely will come back there. And Boracay of course. Omigosh, really? I never knew this. It’s so sad to know there’s no direct route from Mindanao to Kalibo or Caticlan. Wow, what Cebu Pacific, AirphilExpress and Zest Air are doing! That’s so unfair. I am from Pampanga and our Airport here is extending services both domestic and international. I hope the government will focus on our airports. NAIA is a big shame at the moment. Filipinos must experience Boracay before thousands of Chinese, Koreans and other foreigners do. I wish Pacquiao will build his airline company, serving more Mindanao people. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m happy to see you here and meet you. :)

twentyfive, another route problem. you there in pampanga have Clark with direct routes to our neighboring asian countries (e.g HK and SG). Ours here, finally Davao opened directly to Singapore to start this November 20. other than that, another connecting experience anywhere in the philippines... so sad. (,")

That's a great news. If they connect now to SG, the rest will follow. :) I wish they would serve Davao to Caticlan and Davao to Kalibo soon so you guys can go to Boracay anytime without spending money and time too much.

about your middle name being Perez.. i know for sure my father is an only child. but the Perez side in my family is from Leyte. i will check the lineage, maybe it will be traced back to Pampanga.. we'll see... (,")

Hi Sweety. Going back is easy too. From the jetty port, there are vans and buses waiting for interested passengers to be transported to Kalibo airport. If you're in a group, a van maybe cool for you. There are "callers" in the jetty port, usually you don't have to find one, they will approach you. :) No worries :) Enjoy your trip! Holyweek in Boracay wow! Flights and hotels are in their super high peak rates.

sweety 4 years ago

yeah, super peak tlg..as in we were 9pero we book 2 rum gud for 4.. haha,, pasaway.. sn ndi mgkagulo! il keep you posted! thanks s info h.

Hi twentyfive! Thanks for this hub. I know now how to go to Boracay without flying to Manila. It´s a pity that there is no flight from Mindanao to Boracay. I hope, one day our Many Pacquiao or any wealthy Filipino out there will build an airport which will transport us to Boracay from Mindanao. I enyoyed reading this hub and the comments of other readers. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Thelma. It's a pleasure. I wanna try 2Go tours to go to Boracay soon. hehe new experience. I wanna try the ship route. I think Pacquiao would build airports to serve more flights going to different parts of the Philippines specially Boracay since he has a very beautiful house and resort there. I've seen it, it's pretty but I had no idea if it was opened to the public. Thanks for dropping by. :)

Hi twentyfive! your pretty awesome!I'm Glad I found your hubpage, it makes my life a lot easier :) I booked a flight through Cebu Pacific from Davao to Kalibo for this month of November 2012. And Yes, It's a direct flight from Davao :) probably its their new Route and I got lucky :) I never been to this island nor Boracay but finding your hub is such a help and I wanna thank you for putting your heart out there for us :) God Bless you!

Oh wow that is one great news! I'm glad there is a direct flight now from Davao to Kalibo. Everyone must visit Boracay :) It is such a beautiful place. For me, it's a real blessed island too. Once you go there, you wont only fall in love with the place, you'll become more blessed too :)

I hope there would be a route from Davao to Caticlan too because coming from Kalibo takes a lot of energy heheh Thank you for the amazing comments. You are awesome too!

Hi twentyfive, yes they do have flights from Davao to Caticlan, the thing is i found the promo fare to Kalibo for only P7000 round trip for 2 person, which is such a deal or else it will cost me P21,000 round trip to Caticlan. One and half hour by bus or Van is not too bad at all esp. we like adventure and we enjoy sightseeing:) anyway, can you recommend a place to stay in Boracay that is not too expensive?Love the hotels but they are like P5000+ per night :( too expensive for me esp. we are on Budget:)

twentyfive profile image

twentyfive 4 years ago Author

Hi Mis Sept :) P7000 for 2 pax is already expensive for me hehehe If you want cheaper airfare, you must book 2-3 months in advance before your travel date. We went to Boracay last Sept 19-22 and we booked our flights last May, we were 6 and it was only P6000 :) Kalibo route is nice too. Yes because you will love the view around. :)

Yes, I know hotels like La Carmela de Boracay and Boracay Mandarin are so affordable. Plus they have pools. They are in front of the beach too. That will give you amazing view and feeling :)

My tip for you is to book a flight for 6-7am flights so when you arrive you'll have more time to spend your first day. Travelonline is a very good website for all affordable Boracay packages. They offer hotel+airfare or hotel only. They also offer installment payments. If you saw their packages, you would pinch yourself to believe it's true. They are so affordable! :) We used their service last Sept and I loved it. The service van and the crew will really make sure you will not be late on your flights. I must say, I'll use them for my next trip next year :)

hi twentyfive! Cheers to your hub!

i would like to ask if which is better and cheaper? booking in advance for land&sea transfer from kalibo to boracay? or look for those when we get to kalibo na?

and goes with accommodations too, do i get cheaper rates when i get it booked before hand? or have to look for somewhere to stay when we get there?

we'll be spending my parents anniv. there this coming june. its an off peak season. Its my first time going there, and i don't know anything yet, just granted my moms wish of seeing boracay :)

thanks! kudos to your hub! Lord bless!

hi there! It's always best to book in advance to save more money. Book as early as 3 months before your travel date. Yes hotels and airlines offer the lowest prices when you book early. Look at travelonline Facebook page, they usually post their latest package for Boracay. I used their service last September. They did their job well :) This is their fb page www.facebook.com/TravelOnline.ph If you want, you can also go to Boracay via 2Go Travel. They do everyday trips from Manila to Boracay and vise versa. It's cheaper but I didn't try it yet. Looking forward to try the ship :)

Happy anniversary to your parents! I'm sure you'll love it there and will keep coming back. Boracay is a blessed island. :) BTW, next time I'll go, I will choose Caticlan na. Sobrang pagod ko last time we came from Kalibo ehehe. It was time consuming..

Hi,

thanks for the great page twentyfive! Because I am traveling with a child I am a bit worried about getting from Kalibo to Boracay after 8 PM. Some pages say that it is not possible?!

twentyfive profile image

twentyfive 3 years ago Author

One of our friends was late and he just arrived 8:30pm in Kalibo but he still made it. I don't know if there is such thing as curfew. It's better if you use a service or shutttle service if you're coming from Kalibo, some tour companies like Island Star Express which offer land transfer from Kalibo to Caticlan Jetty Port. We used theirs ervice. I think we paid P350 for the roundtrip service. Search it ISLAND STAR EXPRESS BORACAY

Yeah I think I used Island Star Express too. It was about an hour and a half bus ride, but it went well. Would love to go back again!
