Indiana Destinations To Help You Stay Cool This Summer
Cool Indiana Vacation Spots
Lately, Indiana has been in the middle of a heatwave. These past few weeks in June have seen temperatures soar above 90, and folks are looking for all sorts of ways to keep cool. Well as a touritst in Indiana, let's go over your options...
Basically, you must decide whether you would like to spend your time outdoors or indoors. For you outdoors types, you might want to forgoe hiking and camping and visit an alternative destination: such as one of Indiana's Water Parks, or maybe even spend a day or two at the Indiana Dunes State Park.
Or perhaps you'd rather enjoy the airconditioned comfort of one of Indiana's museums or movie theaters? Regardless of your preferences, read on to learn more about these cool Indiana attractions and escape the summer heat!
Stay Cool At One Of Indiana's Water Parks
One of the best (and most fun!) ways of keeping cool this summer is a trip to one of Indiana's water parks. There's three of them to choose from...
Up north you've got the Deep River water park at Crownpoint, a little farther south you can visit the water park at Indiana Beach, and down in Southern Indiana you have Splashin' Safari water park at Holiday World.
The parks at Deep River and Splashin' Safari are the largest and well developed, while the one at Indiana Beach provides a nice way to cool down after a hot day of riding the rides and treading the boardwalk.
Kids love water parks, and as the summer days get hotter they are a popular destination. Just remember to bring some flip flops as the pavement can get hot!!
Cool Off In Lake Michigan At The Indiana Dunes State Park
Is the ocean too far away, but you'd like to visit a beach? Well that's what the glaciers built Lake Michigan for! The cool waters of the lake are perfect to wade in and at the Indiana Dunes State Park there are lifegaurds to help keep you safe.
Plus, the sand is perfect for building sand castles!

Air Conditioned Indoor Indiana Fun
If you'd rather stay out of the summer sun altogether, then I would suggest visiting one of Indiana's indoor attractions. Indiana has some great museums including the Indiana State Museum, the Indianapolis Children's museum, and other local ones.
In addition it's always a good time to see one of the summer's biggest blockbusters at a theater. Whatever you decide to do, just remember that you can have fun despite the heat!
