Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree offers visitors many opportunities for excitement and discovery. Depending on the your interests, here are some ideas to consider:

1. Rock Climbing Joshua Tree is a rock climbers paradise. Offering a wide range of climbing difficulty, there is a climb for everybody. Low on time and equipment? Joshua Tree is a great place to go bouldering, with no need for ropes and harness. Even if rock climbing is not your thing it can still be quite fun just to watch the rock climbers.

2. Hiking - Something to be avoided during the summer months, the hiking in Joshua Tree is very exceptional. With many trails of various lengths and difficulty. Many differenet vistas to take in. An interesting and unique date idea if you have the entire day to spend.

3.  Wildflower viewing

Palm Springs Tramway

The Palm Springs Tram is often referred to as one of the 'wonders of the engineering world' because the towers supporting the cables and the tram cars ascending the mountain were erected with the assistance of helicopters more than 45 years ago in 1963. Bring a jacket as the temperature is often 20-30 degrees cooler up in the mountains than on the desert floor. The tramway is a great idea during the summer to escape the heat. If you want to skip the fairly expensive tram ride you can hike the cactus to clouds trail, which is not for the faint of heart.

Once you get to the top after the 15 minute ride, you can engage in a variety of activities. Hiking is a popular choice, with many trails for novices to experts. The most popular trail is the one leading to the San Jacinto Peak. Which can take the whole afternoon. You can also eat at a fine dining restaurant and a cafe styled restaurant. There is also camping available.

Tramway prices as of April 2009:

Adults $22.25
Children $15.25 (ages 3-12)
Seniors $19.25 (60+)
10% military discount with valid military ID.
Children under age 2 are free.

Citrus State Park

A activity or date that is fun and educational in nature. At the Citrus State Park one can experience the rapidly vanishing remains of the citrus industry and learn about the citrus industry's role in the history and development of California. Here in RIverside groves of oranges, lemons and grapefruit gave California another legacy as the citrus capital of the country. How did this happen? In 1873, the U.S. Department of Agriculture forever changed the history of Southern California when it sent two small navel orange trees to Riverside resident Eliza Tibbets. Those trees, growing in near perfect soil and weather conditions, produced an especially sweet and flavorful fruit. The word spread and citrus groves sprang up everywhere. Riverside and Redlands owe much of their existence to the their orange groves. Lemons grew especially well in cities like Upland.

The park is located in Riverside, at 9400 Dufferin Avenue

Morongo Casino, Resort, Spa & Cabazon Outlets

The Morongo Casino offers nearly 150,000 square feet of gaming action with all sorts of games. Though sadly does not have a real roulette table. But to make up for this there are 2,000 of the newest and most exciting slot machines. It is the second most convienent casino in the Inland Empire, after San Manuel. They also in my opinion offer better payouts than San Manuel. But if you want the best payouts for the slot machines go to Harrahs in Rincon. It is one of the most remote casinos, but they compensate for this by offering better comps and payouts. Enough about the casino let's cover some of the other things that Morongo has to offer.

They have very nice rooms. The hotel has a 4 diamond rating from AAA. They are probably the nicest in the entire area for quite some distance. A nice feature to them is that the the shower is semi translucent to the rest of the room. Every guest room has high-speed Internet access, a 27-inch plasma-screen cable-equipped television, in-room safe, mini bar and many other amenities. Oasis Pool features a sandy beach pool, multi-tiered spa, waterslide and lazy river all set in the lush gardens.

Sage is the name of Morongo's spa. I am no expert on spas but to me the prices here are a little high for what you get. It is top of the line, with almost any sort of spa treatment you would like. But your ladies would probably enjoy this very much as you did some gaming in the casino.

There is a very good club at Morongo called Vibe. Last I went ladies got in free. 9-1:30 Friday and Saturday nights. The lighting and the music is very good. The layout fo the club is nice too, with two levels. Have to be over 21 to enter though. Which is a good thing.

Morongo has a bowling alley in their old casino building. I have yet to try it, but I am confident it is pretty awesome bowling experience. The buffet is very good. Just a little smaller than what you find in Las Vegas, and maybe not quite as nice as the best Las Vegas buffets, but very good nonetheless.

The Cabazon outlets are some of the best out there. You can find some good deals here. Depending on the store though. Coach offers some great discounts, Armani Exchange, and Lucky Jeans also offer some sweet deals.

Lake Arrowhead & Big Bear Lake

Lake Arrowhead is smaller and has less to do than Big Bear Lake.  The area is more affluent than Big Bear.  With more gated estates rather than rustic mountain cabins. Why choose to have a vacation at Lake Arrowhead? Being at a lower elevation than Big Bear, Arrowhead gets little snow (you can forget those pesky tire chains). It's very easy and cost effective to rent a luxurious house from which to enjoy the spectacular scenery, crisp mountain air.  If you do choose to ski, the slopes are only a half hour away.

Big Bear Lake is popular with skiers as well as boaters with plenty of rentals to be found.  Big Bear Boulevard was widened to handle high-season traffic, and downtown Big Bear Lake (the "Village") was spiffed. In addition to two excellent ski slopes less just outside of  town. You can enjoy the comforts of a good sized town.  Resurants, supermarket, and video rental stores.  Most people choose Big Bear over Arrowhead because there's so much more to do, from boating, fishing, and hiking to snow sports, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The weather is nearly perfect at this elevation.

Victoria Gardens, Ontario Mills, Citizens Bank Arena

Victoria Gardens is a more upscale mall than Ontario Mills. Some of the better experiences there is Kabuki sushi. Good sushi, good atmosphere, and good prices. The California Pizza Kitchen there is also pretty good. The department stores though are just like any other mall though. Victoria Gardens is very new outdoor mall. Happy Shopping.

Ontario Mills is officially an outlet mall, but most stores are not outlets. Here for entertainment you can go to Dave & Busters for the adult crowd on weekend nights. Gameworks is also a gaming place for both adult and kids to hand out. If you like arcade games head over to Gameworks. If you like pool or redemption games like chucky cheese for adults, then head on over to Dave & Busters.

Citizens Bank Arena is a small-sized arena venue. The primary attraction here is the Ontario Reign a minor league hockey team. But lots of shows and concerts come through. Like Disney Ice, etc. etc. A good place to take a date or chill with friends.

Theron's Frozen Custard

Theron’s Frozen Custard is a unique yummy treat and makes a unique date idea.

Their sweet custard is served in two main flavors, vanilla and chocolate. Then you can customize your custard by blending in other ingrediants such as peanuts and various candy bars, or gummi worms. Treat yourself to their delicious custards, sundaes. They even have decent sandwiches if you are hungary.
