Jet Ski Docks: How You Can Ramp Up Your Fun With a Floating Dock to Park Your PWC or Jetski Instead of at Your House...

Updated on March 23, 2011

Jet Skiing Fun!

One of the most popular summertime activities for people are beaches and lakes, and all the various water sports fun available there! Being in or around the water on a hot day can really help to cool you off, and many people achieve this by owning their personal watercraft, or Jet Ski! There’s nothing better than racing over the water or doing figure 8’s, just enjoying the day and your time out there with your friends or by yourself… More people than ever are purchasing personal watercraft for a little fun and adventure, but there are also lots of things to consider before making a major decision of this magnitude.

Do you live on or near a lake or coastline? Do you have any experience with trailering or using a ramp to back your jet ski into the water? Even though this is a learned skill that doesn’t take much time to excel at, it can sometimes be a bother to have to handle your jet ski both coming and going in the water. If you would like to just keep your jet ski in the water most of the time and just start it up when you are ready for some fun, then you might consider purchasing a jet ski floating dock for your waterside home or marina slip. These are very popular today, and they are very easy to park your jet ski on when you are not using it. Some of them just allow you to tie up to as a permanent floating location, and others will accommodate the Jet Ski to actually drive right up onto the ramp or floating dock and stay out of the water when not in use. This is very handy, and also helps to keep barnacles and other sea creatures from gaining a hold on your personal watercraft while you are away.

They are especially desirable at fresh water lakes or inland rivers, because you won’t have to worry about salt water affecting your machine or rust taking a hold. At a lakeside home or local marina, you can easily place the floating dock into the water and anchor it into one spot so that it will not move. Then you can park your jet ski there and come and go from one place without ever having to bother with the hassles of trailering your toy or messing with ramps. Be sure to use a jet ski cover though, to protect your machine from the elements. Buying a jet ski dock can be a great idea!

You will need to be able to refuel your waverunner somehow, so you’ll either need to purchase it in plastic containers at the gas station and bring it down to the dock, or find a local waterfront marina that has a gas station that pumps directly to boats and watercraft. You should have no trouble in finding these, as there are many boats that never come out of the water. The only trouble you may have with this method though is the distance from the pump to the gas tank, as jet skis are much smaller in size compared to larger boats.

There are many brands for jet ski docks, and you can usually find many dealers or manufacturers at boat shows in your area, so be sure to attend as many as you can. In fact, you may be surprised to find out what other new and exciting products they are always coming out with, and boat shows are a good way for you to stay current. Be sure to match up the particular brand of Jet Ski floating dock with your model, so that they are compatible. Have fun, and I’ll see you on the waterways of the world!
