New Zealand travel, just take a kiwi Bus
Kiwi Bus Trip
The Kiwi Bus
Recently a good friend of long standing announced that she was going to enjoy the Kiwi Experience. Her Twenty year old son had enjoyed it last year and had a great time so despite being well over the usual age range (18 - 30 ish) she bought a ticket and was all set to try it for herself.
The concept is pretty foolproof. The bus is available to take you on a tour of both the North and South islands of New Zealand. The bus takes you to the hostel or hotel of your choice, picks you up next morning and takes you to your next destination. Other transport like taxis will be arranged if you want to partake in a special outing or visit a chosen destination near by. It is important to book your seat the day before but this was never a problem. The hostel, usually called Base are of excellent quality and good value for money. Many include a lively bar for a safe drinking environment.
Everything was a very favorable Experience indeed. She says the high point, beside the amazing New Zealand scenery is that the Kiwi Experience builds up great camaraderie. She has remained friends with many of the people who shared the Experience. But then Facebook is a great tool for keeping in touch.
Apparently the friends you make on the tour are what makes the system work. Everyone is very supportive and friendly which makes doing some of the more challenging pursuits easier. The bus drivers are chosen for their personalities and help to make this experience a very enjoyable one. As this bus experience is aimed at a younger set, activities like bungy jumping, sky diving, black and white water rafting are offered as side trips. I can thoroughly recommend black water rafting at Waitomo in the North Island it is one of the most amazing things I have done. You float along an underground river on inflated inner tubes wearing wet suits. You are provided with miners lamps to wear on your head to use while you walk to the river.. Off you go down into the bowels of the earth where you float around looking up at the glow worms hanging above, Magic!! Then off for hot soup in a Marie or Maori meeting house, and then back to your hostel, hotel or Bed and Breakfast lodging on the bus.
Other adrenaline charged activities are provided like horse riding on the beach or you can wander off on your own for the day quietly sight seeing or visiting the local hostelry knowing that the bus will pick you up. No drinking and driving problem for you.
The Kiwi Bus Experience provides a safe environment for young people to visit New Zealand and it is easy to book on line. Should you have to cancel your trip there is a no questions asked refund policy, this does include a $200 nz penalty. Don't forget that when it is Winter in the Northern hemisphere it is Summer down under! Make lots of new found friends and enjoy the fabulous Islands that make up New Zealand, the Land of the long White Cloud. Way to go, Kiwi Bus!
