Los Cristianos, Tenerife
Los Cristianos is one of the largest tourist resorts situated in Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. There are over 11,000 inhabitants in this town and unlike the neighboring Las Americas, Los Cristianos was a town long before the tourists started pouring in. Before it became a major ferry port and tourist resort, Los Cristianos was a small fishing village and if you search hard enough you can still see signs of the old architecture, typical to buildings of the Canary Islands.
These days, Los Cristianos is a place loved by many tourists, which gives you a great holiday. It has two main beaches, with golden sands and great weather during the entire year, plus a lot of restaurants and bars to choose from. In the accommodation department, you can find everything, from timeshares, to self catering apartments and hotels. Whatever your budget is, there is a good chance you will find something that suits you. Near the port of the town you can go and watch whales or dolphins, or you can do a party cruise or go fishing.

These days, there are hundreds of thousands of people that come to Los Cristianos each year. There are a few dozen hotels available to choose from, and you can also choose to rent a self catering apartment.
The town provides you with a number of choices when it comes to food, from high quality restaurants to tapas bars. It’s quite cheap to eat out, so a lot of people choose to rent an apartment and self cater, instead of choosing a hotel.
On the streets of Los Cristianos you can find a number of small shops, which offer products both for residents and tourists. If these don’t offer what you need, there are also a few shopping malls and some supermarkets to choose from.
There are two beaches of world class quality in Los Cristianos. Playa de Los Cristianos is the larger one and it comes with beach volley ball, watersports, an area for kids and showers. The smaller onw is called Las Vistas Beach and it’s an artificial one. It has about the same facilities. Both beaches have a great sand.
Los Cristianos is well connected to the rest of the cities on the island. Taking the TF1 Motorway, you can reach the capital of the island in 45 minutes and the airport is only 25 minutes away.
You also have the option of taking the bus from the city’s terminal, or the ferry, if you want to reach one of the neighbor islands (La Palma, El Hierro or La Gomera).
If you want to explore the cities, do it on foot if possible, as you have both a long promenade next to the beach and plenty of walkways that are pedestrian friendly.
