Lufthansa Baggage Allowance

Lufthansa is the national airline of the nation of Germany. Lufthansa is one of the largest airlines in the world. Lufthansa offers a free baggage allowance on almost all of its flights.


Lufthansa flies to cities around Europe. Lufthansa also flies to Asia, Europe and Africa as well as offering flights to North America, The United States, Canada and cities in South America.


Lufthansa baggage allowance vary depending on the class of Lufthansa cabins you are travelling on. Lufthansa offers flights in three cabin classes. These being First Class, Business Class and Economy Class.


Travellers with Lufthansa First Class Tickets are permitted to check in up to 3 pieces of luggage each weighing in at 32 Kilos.


Lufthansa Business Class travellers are permitted to check in 2 pieces of luggage each weighing in at no more than 32 kilos.


Lufthansa Economy Class ticket holders are permitted to check in one piece of luggage weighing in at no more than 23 Kilos.


In addition to this checked in baggage Lufthansa allows passengers to carry onto the aircraft a set amount of hand baggage. First Class Passengers can carry on up to two carry on hand baggage items each weighing in at no more than 8 kilos each.


Business Class passengers travelling with Lufthansa Business Class can take two pieces of hand baggage on board a Lufthansa flight, each of the 2 items of hand luggage should weigh in at no more than 2 kilos.


Passengers who are Star Alliance Gold Members, or Senetor Class fliers or HON circle members are permitted an additional allowance of luggage on board Lufthansa flights. In First Class members of any of the above can check in up to 4 bags weighing no more than 32 kilos each. Members of the above programmes flying business class can check in up to 3 pieces of luggage weighing no more than 32 Kilos each. In Economy members of Star Alliance Gold, Senetors or HON members can check in and fly with 2 pieces of Luggage each weighing no more than 23 Kilos at Check In.


Children aged 2 years old or more are allowed with their Lufthansa Ticket to check in the same amount of baggage as an adult travelling in that particular class of cabin. Children under the age of 2 are permitted to check in 1 item of luggage weighing up to 23 kilos at check in and children under the age of 2 are also permitted to check in a foldable wheel chair.


Disabled Passengers flying with Lufthansa are permitted to check in baggage up to the maximum baggage amount allowed for the class of cabin they are travelling in and Lufthansa will also permit disabled passengers to transport with their journey up to 2 wheel chairs.


Passengers flying with Lufthansa are requested to keep the weight of their luggage within these guidelines. Passengers who arrive with more luggage than permitted may be asked to remove items to bring the weight of their luggage down to Lufthansa baggage weight requirements. Passengers may also face excess baggage charges if their baggage quantity is more in weight, size and amount than permitted by Lufthansa baggage allowance rules.
