Luxury Spas in Cornwall With Sea Views
If you're looking for luxury spas in Cornwall with sea views, you're actually quite spoilt these days. Shabby, run-down hotels of the 60s and 70s have been rebuilt, extended, refurbished and completely made over to be fabulous shining state of the art retreats and centres of relaxation.
Now all you have to do is choose one to visit!
As a customer, you make choices, so it makes sense to choose a spa with a fabulous view, rather than one without, as it is so much more restful that you'll be 100% re-energised and not just 90%!
If you're looking for a spa visit and a holiday, then the combination of The Scarlet Hotel and Ocean Spa at Bedruthan Steps should suit everybody's requirements. The Scarlet Hotel is adults only, Bedruthan Steps is family-centric. Both have fabulous sea views and separate spas, although the Bedruthan Steps Spa is available to guests at the Scarlet Hotel.
Dawn French Got Married at the Scarlet Hotel
In April 2013, when Dawn French, comedienne and ex-wife of Lenny Henry, remarried, she chose the Scarlet Hotel for her friends and family to join her and new husband Mark Bignall. After the wedding they held a firework display on the beach below. Dawn and Mark had been dating for just over a year when they tied the knot at the Scarlet.
Scarlet Hotel, Newquay, Cornwall
Just six miles north of Newquay is the beautiful Cornish beach and hamlet of Mawgan Porth and as the road climbs the cliffs on the northern side, there's an almost missable hotel on the left. You can drive right by it and not notice as it's low-lying profile conceals what's beyond.
This particular seemingly non-descript hotel is the Bedruthan Steps hotel, but it has a few well-kept secrets within. Firstly, if you were to walk through the doors, through the hotel and out the other side, you'd discover that it's built on sloping ground, so the whole of the rear of the hotel is rooms with ceiling to floor windows, overlooking the most fabulous sea views you can imagine. But wait, there's a further secret.... just to one side, a little apart from the main hotel is another hotel. Much smaller, almost unnoticeable. This smaller hotel is the fairly new Scarlet Hotel - a 100% adults only relaxation zone. This is a hotel where children are not allowed!
The Scarlet Hotel is all about relaxation, from the surroundings, to the dramatic full-window views over the coastline, you're instantly relaxed as you enter this magical world of retreat, relaxation and pampering.
The Scarlet Hotel
The Scarlet Hotel has 37 bedrooms, spread over five floors - but it's unlike any hotel you've ever been to before. The feeling of space and light and the way it's been designed, is more like waking up in the luxury clifftop retreat of your best friend the stylish multi-millionaire rock star! Of course, we all have one of those don't we - so, when you're not invited to your stylish multi-millionaire rock star friend's secret clifftop retreat, why not hide away in the Scarlet instead!
Michelin Star Food
But the luxury doesn't stop there. Food at the Scarlet Hotel is extra special too. Extra luxurious, extra special, extra pampering!
Ben Tunnicliffe is the Michelin award-winning chef who will produce you the most sumptuous, yet locally-produced, food you can imagine. Seafood is high on the agenda, as this is a coastal retreat and spa, it goes without saying that seafood will feature highly on the menu. Fresh, locally-caught seafood of the highest quality. But there's also a huge choice of red and white meats and vegetarian dishes.
Breakfast is served individually, to order - and again isn't just the usual full English, but offers a cornucopia of unusual and unexpected delights. Choose which breakfast you desire from the menu.
Relaxation at The Scarlet Hotel
There are many individual features that make the Scarlet Hotel a unique experience, relaxing isn't a problem at all. Even while lying in your bed, you can hear the crash of the waves against the rocks below.
If you're the sort of person who likes to just relax and sit still, perhaps even refusing to leave your room, simply slide the full length patio doors open and instantly you can smell the sea, hear the waves and enjoy the uninterrupted seaviews for miles around. It's all about relaxation at the Scarlet Hotel, where the pampering is quite often water-based. Why not let jets of water massage away your stress knots in the open-air Jacuzzi.
If you do like to venture outside just a little, then you can relax in a seaweed bath in the wood-fired hot tub in the garden, just close your eyes and relax - you'll be able to hear the sounds of the sea again.
Or, if you actually want somebody to pamper you, to focus all their attentions just on you and ensuring you have the best time ever, then simply step next door to the Bedruthan Steps Hotel Spa.
The Ocean Spa at Bedruthan Steps Hotel
Bedruthan Steps Hotel and the Scarlet Hotel are owned by the same family, so it's easy to stay in the relaxing adult space of the Scarlet, yet use the full facilities of the Ocean Spa at Bedruthan Steps. While the Scarlet Hotel is a total, child-free, retreat, the Bedruthan Step Hotel is run on the same luxury lines, but with more rooms, more facilities and a child-friendly space.
The Ocean Spa at Bedruthan Steps Hotel is probably the most well-appointed, luxurious and pampering-centric space in North Cornwall. The approach is from the outside as it's in the grounds of the Bedruthan Steps Hotel, not within the building itself, walking to the Spa gives you a chance to breathe in that fresh Cornish sea air. The sea air, the views, the pampering ... and the Ocean Spa: it's everything rolled into one, giving you probably the best Spa experience of your life.
