Major East Coast Earthquake

Quake 2011

5.9 Earthquake on the Eastern sea board 8/11

There was a massive 5.9 earth quake that hit the east coast today August 23, 2011. Many people were slightly shaken up by it's powerful shock wave, that had neighboring homes shaking. This quake was sudden and lasted about 2 minutes in New York City, it stretched across for miles on end, from places like Detroit Michigan, Washington DC, Toronto, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and many many more states in the United States.

We have some news footage of the Quakes actual occurrence from Youtube & many other channels on the web, were hoping this will help people get an idea of what had actually occurred on that very day. There may be more of these natural disaster events occurring worldwide so keep posted to your local & national news stations for the latest updates.

The Pentagon was evacuated as well as many other locations in the US so that a sort of safety response system could be put in place, just in case if anything further was to occur like after shocks or what have you. People are currently communicating on ever social network their own personal accounts of this historic Nationwide event. Earth Quakes seldom occur on the East Coast, most happen to occur on the West coast. This one was definitely a wake call to people who are somewhat not use to such a massive movement of the Earth's Crust.

Damage Report

We gathered a great deal of footage on the actual damages that occurred based on the East Coast Quake yesterday, it appears that the Washington monument and many other structures have actually sustained some physical damage, due to the shocking power of the 6.0 quake after all. Many office building, schools, & local businesses were shut down today Aug 8, 2011, due to structural integrity issues, lets hope there isn't any loss of life, or other related successive damages to report. How interesting on the East Coast... In California we get these all the time, but I can only imagine how scary it must be to experience something when you least expect it, such as this! Maybe it's global warming... :P

I was at home trying to learn more about how to use hubpages when suddenly my homes walls began shaking, I was startled so I I jumped & ran to see if my uncle was upstairs still, I wasn't sure if anyone else knew what was actually occurring. He was coming down the stair case, so I said to him did you feel that, He nodded "yes", "was that an Earthquake". I said lets get out the house, then stated "yes" I'm sure it was one. This was not anything ordinary to us, not by far. "Wow" is all I can say for now.
