Mardi Gras in Lafayette, Louisiana

Ready to experience Mardi Gras, but not ready to enter the crazy sinful atmosphere of New Orleans, then try visiting Lafayette, Louisiana for Mardi Gras. Already famous for its great cajun cuisine (true cajun food comes from Lafayette and the surrounding Acadiana communities, like Breaux Bridge and Abbeville, not Baton Rouge and New Orleans as some would have you believe) Lafayette also offers a family oriented Mardi Gras experience, if your coming in for the weekend, there is a kids parade on the Saturday before Mardi Gras, as well as the Krewe of Bonaparte Parade that night. You can take a break Sunday and Monday to sight see and eat some great food, before catching the Queens Parade Monday evening. Be sure to get plenty of rest for "Fat Tuesday" (Mardi Gras), because there are three parades on Tuesday, with the first starting at 10:00 a.m. and the last getting cranked up at 2:00 p.m. If you don't have little ones to look after you can spend the rest of the afternoon and evening enjoying Lafayette's happening nightlife, which centers around a happening downtown area. My family and I have been enjoying Lafayette's Mardi Gras celebrations for years and have found it to be very family friendly. Hope you can pay us a visit for Mardi Gras......let the good times roll!!

I always wanted to attend a Mardi Gras, but was a bit concerned about the craziness. Thanks for the information on activities in Lafayette.
