My Trip To Asheville, NC.

Asheville, North Carolina has been on my personal map of places I would like to visit and possibly move to. Well, after a couple of years of discovering this wonderful city, I finally got my opportunity to visit. This was by far one of the most satisfying and motivating trips I have ever taken in my life. The trip was well worth taking, and this city just may be the place I call home soon.

It was four in the morning when I arose to get ready my journey to Asheville. I barely got much sleep but I was ready to hit the long road trip to get to a place I have been waiting to discover. The sun was not even up yet, but I was already anxious to go. As my friends pulled up, we loaded my luggage and headed north for our destination. I almost felt like a little kid on his first trip to Disney World.

We watched the sunrise to give that guiding light for our adventure. Even though I was pretty exhausted from lack of sleep from the night before, I did not want to miss anything on the way there. I wanted to remember the landmarks that will hopefully one day seem all too familiar. As we jammed out many tunes and played games on our phones, the journey did not seem quite as long as I thought it would be. As we were approaching our destination the flat lands began to turn into hills. The hills began to turn into those majestic Appellation Mountains that I am always used to seeing with my many trips to Tennessee and Hershey, Pennsylvania. There is nothing like seeing rows and rows of green mountains that stretch on for miles. We were soon approaching Asheville and in my mind I still could not believe I was finally getting a chance to see this astonishing city.

As the mile signs for Asheville began to get down into the single digit range that nervous, exciting feeling started to take control. I could not wait to see this place. I could not wait to see the locals, and meet new and interesting people. So many reviews written for Asheville were full of positive words and I could not wait to see what everyone was talking about.

Our first day there, we began to get into tourist mode. We visited the famous Biltmore Estate. I have seen this place in movies, pictures and traveling shows, but it does not do justice until you see this mansion in person. This place was beyond huge. The house was beautiful, and the old style architecture was absolutely amazing. As you first walk up to this place you have to take a moment to take it all in. As we began our tour, you really get a sense of how enormous this house really is. Once inside, you will marvel over the interior and art that will take you decades and decades back. It was great to see the older furnishings the way they use to be. On the tour you will see roughly forty something rooms which seems like a lot, but the Biltmore actually has over two hundred and fifty rooms. The house is not the only place to visit while here. The amazing and colorful gardens are there for guests to tour. There is a winery for some great tasting local wine. There are also five delicious restaurants to choose from. And from all the touring and walking on this estate, you will work up an appetite. And the views from the house and court yards are breath taking as well.

It was time to experience the night life of Asheville. One thing I did love was the array of bars, pubs and taverns this vibrant city had to offer. Downtown Asheville is a great and safe way to spend an evening of fun. There are many great restaurants to choose from as well as some great live entertainment that makes downtown Asheville a terrific place to experience the social characteristics that it has to offer. Many of the bars and restaurants offer patio accommodations so you can enjoy a nice cool evening even in the summer time.

Asheville’s location allows tourists and locals to enjoy many nature adventures. From fishing, white water rafting, kayaking, waterfalls, hiking and the famous sliding rock, Asheville is just a short drive to any of these adventures. Another great destination just short of a thirty minute drive in the mountains is the little, but popular town of Chimney Rock. The old timey town will take you back into older days and give you an experience like no other. You also have the opportunity to check out and swim in the famous Lake Lure.

After meeting the people, discovering what opportunities and adventures Asheville has to offer, I now feel like this is a place I would want to and currently looking to move. I feel I would live and enjoy a much more satisfying and active life style. Asheville maybe a smaller city than most, but it has much more to offer than meets the eye. I cannot wait to become a local and enjoy the wonderful and diverse cultural aspects of this astonishing city. It has a wide range of activities, culinary and artistic attributes that many other cities lack. And I would love to become a part of this city’s growth, as it becomes a more popular destination for many. I have enjoyed the swampy flat lands of Louisiana long enough; it is time to see a new landscape.

Asheville is the town of my birth. I haven't been there in about 5 years. I love the Biltmore Estate. The country is very beautiful there.

Great Hub. I voted it UP, and will share.

I've thought I'd love to live there since the first and only time I've seen the place.

Its full of beauty, lots of hippies, and has a "mountain music" traditional aspect I'd love to be a part of.
