Our First Subic Weekend Getaway
Knowing that January 23 is a holiday, hubby and I took the chance of exploring subic for the first time. With our 4-year old son, we took off Saturday morning, 5:30 am from our Antipolo residence. After four toll gates, we arrived Subic at around 9:30 am.
OUR CHOICE OF RESORT
First thing is to register at Camayan Beach Resort. We chose this as the marine park that we want to visit is just right beside it. And because we are guests at the Camayan , we shall be given a 20% discount per head on the park’s entrance fee. You just need to register first to get the discount
Ocean Adventure is just beside Camayan Beach Resort. If you are checked in at Camayan , you will get a 20% discount per head on the Park’s entrance fee. We paid around P1,300 for the entrance .
There are four shows to watch. First show that we watched featured jungle survival. A native aeta, demonstrated on how to survive inside the jungle using only bamboo. His demo was not boring, it was some kind of a comedy actually. He was very pleasant to watch and there was no dull moment during his demo.
After his demo, park trainors presented different wild animals like, raccoon, rats, bat, snake, eagle and even domesticated animals like dog and cats and the tricks that they can perform. It was fun watching these animals.
Next show, the dolphin show. Dolphins performed different tricks. Though the tricks were not really complicated , the show entertained us and most of the kids that were there having their field trip.
Third show, was the adventures of Olongapo Jones. It was like a comic play which aims to remind us how to take care of our nature. It was a refreshing show, I keep on laughing all throughout the show because one of the performer’s habit of making adlib.
Last show that we watched was the sea lions. Aside from the tricks that the sealions performed there was some sort of a skit which made us laughing so hard. What it is is up to you.
While inside the park, you can have your meals at their café. Kinda expensive but when you get to see the servings, price is reasonable. I had a set meal of mixed vegetables and lechon kawali with rice for a price of P175. Iced tea is at P15 per glass.
At 3:00 p.m., we checked in at the reception (even if the check in is at 2:00 p.m) and were sent to our room . Resorts staff were very accommodating. They are always ready to help you around.
We booked a superior room for P5,100 overnight stay. The room has two queen- sized bed , tv, aircon, hot and cold shower and shared terrace just outside the rooms. We chose beach view which literally has the view of the beach. What’s convenient is that the whole resort is wifi ready. Anywere you go inside the resort, you can connect to the internet
If you expect it's sand to be as white and as fine with Boracay's then you will be disappointed. Water is not as clear either but rest assured it’s clean. What the beach boasts of is its privacy of which Boracay lack. You can just lie on the sand without loud music bothering your eardrums.
Considering that it's a long weekend, the beach is not crowded. If its relaxation that you want, you will get it here.
At 5:00 p.m. we sat by the beach and watched our kid play on the sand. We just swam a little as I preferred to just sit on the sand thinking of nothing. We spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening lying on the sand , joking around, telling stories and just doing nothing. Pure bliss of relaxation.
Our accommodation includes free buffet breakfast for three which starts at 8:00 a.m. Choices of food were sausage, scrambled eggs, lumpiang bangus, oatmeal, champorado, pancakes, cereal and fresh milk, juice and coffee. If your accommodation does not include free breakfast, just pay P300 per head
ON WAY HOME
At 12:00 we checked out. On the way down, we passed by some monkeys alongside the road. It seems like it’s a normal thing for monkeys to just sit by the roadside. I don’t know if they are harmless, but I took its pictures from the inside of our car.
Going down seemed faster when we were going up. Probably because we know the way already. We passed by the Zoobic Safari and Treetop Adventure. This was not actually part of our itinerary so we did not allot a budget for these adventures. But when we come back to Subic, these two will definitely be in our itinerary. While travelling down, we can’t help but admire the nature, and the wildlife inside it.
Before leaving Subic, we drove over to Subic yacht club for some picture taking.
I appreciate Subic so much because of the nature surrounding it. Its clean, serene city appeals to my introvert self. If asked if I want to go back, my answer will definitely be yes.
