What do you do?

So you finally have some time without the hassles of work, or errands, or any other responsibilities to hold you down. What do you do? I'll tell you what to do...get out into the great wide open and enjoy yourself. Weather you are alone, walking the dog, having much needed time with your significant other, with the family, or with your best pals. You can turn any green, open space into your personal playground and I'm going to tell you how!

What to do if you are all alone?

So you have a day off from the hassles of everything. What do you do? Do you sit around the house all day in your jammies? Watch re-runs of the sames shows? Veg out? Well if you are doing that then get off your butt and get outside!

Do something productive, like go on a nature walk. You'll be surprised at how much of the beautiful nature you are missing out on when you are walking on autopilot! Check in with your department of park's websites to see what is going on in your area.

Or you can even go the extra mile and swap ipods with a friend and set out on your walk with a different soundtrack than what you are use to!

Got a dog?

Well you have the day and you obviously need to take the pooch for a walk. So why not take him to the local park and play Frisbee with him, or even throw a ball. There are endless things you can do with dogs. You can make baseball fun with your dog by simply hitting the ball and running around the bases with him/her. Then when you get to home plate make it even more interesting by making the dog to a special trick like standing on their hind legs or shaking paws with you. Just remember to not over work the dog to much. And take plenty of treats with you as rewards.

This activity gets you both out of the house for a few hours and gives you plenty of fresh air.

Spending time with your love.

So you finally have some alone time with your significant other? Oh you've been waiting on this for a long time. Now what do you do? You don't want to repeat the same old dinner and movie routine do you? That can just get boring and old after a while. So why not get physical? Now get your minds out of the gutter. I don't mean go romping in public. But why not go to your local park and have a bout of competition. Take along a frisbee and pick out things like branches, park benches, water fountains or trees, then try to hit them 5 times in a row. The one who misses it more than three times owes the other a back rub, or a week on the dish duty! It's a fun way to perk up the adrenaline. And it is proven that adrenaline is connected to attraction. So why not use a little adrenaline to perk you two up? And it gets you to do something different and fun with each other!

Finally got the family to yourself all day?

With all the hassle of working, paying bills, worrying about responsibilities etc... we often don't get to spend actual family time together do we? So when you finally get the family all to yourself, are you stumped on what to do? I know the dishes need done, the laundry needs washed and folded, the house needs cleaned, the yard needs mowed...but those are all things that can wait. They will be there when you get back. Take the day you have with the family and go on a hike. Go to the park and play some touch football. Ride bikes. Go swimming. Do something. It's the little things in life that make the most difference. What do you want to remember when the kids are grown? You spending the day cleaning the house, or going out and making memories that will last a life time?

It's a great way to meet new people.

Field day with the friends.

Ok so you don't want to be alone for the day. But you have no pets, no loved one, no family...what do you do? Well invite some friends out for a little field day. Invite some of your close pals and tell them to invite some friends to. Ask them all to bring something along with them. Be it a basketball, baseball set, volleyball net and ball, horseshoes etc. Then split up into teams and rotate playing with each other. Or bring a few decks of cards and some blankets and play rotating card tournaments.

If you want to really spice it up a bit go to your local dollar store an get blue ribbons or little tokens and hand them out to the winners. Be sure to bring cameras along and have some fun!
