Review of Call of the Wild Women Only Vacations
Call Of The Wild ~ Women Only Vacations!
I came across some interesting information recently about vacation adventures that are exclusively tailored just for women and thought, what a brilliant idea! The company that features these vacations is known as Call Of The Wild and they specialize in unique and interesting women only vacations. Now you might think to yourself, why vacations that are only for women?
Well, for one thing, sometimes we just want to get away... you know... without any guys there, without the kids... just with other women who can relate to us. Sometimes a girl just needs a break! And we need someone we can giggle with and act like silly schoolgirls with... well ok, maybe that's just me. But, I have a feeling it's a lot of others, too! You know, like the song says, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." Yeah, like that!
The vacations featured on this website, most of them anyway, are very physically active adventures. They entail hiking and trekking and I imagine some climbing as well. I know for a fact that it's easier to walk with other women than to walk with some of those long-legged guys.
Now this might not apply to all guys, but I know that with my husband, I am usually a few paces behind him. He walks so fast, as if everything is a race. I can walk fast, but I burn out more easily than he does and I just personally find it easier to keep up with other women when it comes to walking. Plus, other women love to chat while they walk, it keeps things interesting and makes the time fly!
These interesting vacations are tailored to all experience and physical activity levels, from beginners to experienced hikers and trekkers. And the guides are all experts who have been hiking and trekking the trails in these beautiful places for years. Not only are they physically active vacations but they are educational as well. That makes them even more attractive.
I know back when our boys were younger, occasionally I would go on "girlfriend" trips with a group of girl friends. We were all BIG fans of the country singer, Alan Jackson, and we used to meet up in different states to go to concerts to see him. After a while, we just went to visit each other in the different states we were living in.
I've known some of these ladies for over fifteen years, and they have become more like sisters to me than friends. And for someone who never had a sister, that has turned out to be a huge blessing in my life.
These vacations for women sound like they are very similar to what we used to do. I can go on for hours telling stories of the good times we had. The buses we chased down Second Avenue North in Nashville... the friend who is famous for hanging off bus mirrors, the one who is famous for leaving parts of clothing stuck in elevator doors. The ones who snore and the ones who don't... the time I almost got run over by the rental car in front of a country singers home... the time we met Ira from the group "Trick Pony" and he told us he was in a country band. We didn't know whether to believe him or not, until we found out later that he was telling us the TRUTH .... the time...like I said, I could go on for hours, but I won't.
The point is, I have a lifetime of wonderful and fond memories stored up in my heart. Memories of good times, laughter, a few tears ... and of myself and my friends all helping each other to raise wonderful children. We've seen each other through weddings, births of grandchildren, even death of a spouse (unfortunately).
Yes, these friendships have been such an amazing blessing in my life. I have read that this same thing happens when women go on Call Of The Wild Women Only vacations. Many women do end up becoming friends, sometimes even for a lifetime. They also find that they have wonderful stories to tell for the rest of their lives of their exciting adventures. So, I know exactly why this kind of a travel service is such a wonderful thing for women!
I did read on their website that the women who go on these vacations come from all walks of life. They range from professional career women to those staying home to raise families. Some come on vacation with sisters and their friends and others are those who simply wish to see and explore new places and to make some new friends. All are welcome, and everyone finds it to be a wonderful experience.
By getting out and learning new things, by taking a break from the same old routine day after day, this helps women to become stronger and more well rounded. Also having some adult interaction with peers is another fantastic benefit. It seems that most women would come back from a vacation like this rested and refreshed and ready to take on new challenges in their lives and to tackle old ones.
The Beauty And Wonder Of These Places Is Amazing!
The PLACES These Women Go To And The Things They See!
These trips usually range in length from four days to about a week or longer, depending on where they are going and the things that one will be doing. Many of them are trips to the mountains in and around California and through pretty areas like Death Valley. They also go to beautiful southwest Utah to Bryce Canyon National Park and to beautiful Zion park, also in southwest Utah.
Trekking and hiking is done with experienced professional guides who not only know their way around these areas, but are very informative about the areas and can give the vacationing ladies so many helpful tips. Meals are cooked in the evening, and from everything I have read, the cooked meals are SO good that many women do not WANT to return home after their Call of The Wild women only vacation (well, OK, so maybe that's a bit of a stretch)!
In fact, there is even a cookbook featured on the website giving the recipes for these meals, since they are reported to be so delicious and so many women request the recipes once they try these dishes. Some of the women have made the comment that they don't even eat THAT well at home!
One of the most fascinating trips that I found on the website, and one trip I would take in a heartbeat if I ever got the opportunity to do that is a trekking trip to Cinque Terre and the Italian Riviera. This is a hiking trip where you hike between the towns in the Italian Riviera and from the pictures I have seen, this is one spectacular and gorgeous place!
This trip takes you through five amazing little towns along the Lingurian Sea which can be explored simply by hiking from town to town. I say simply because I haven't done it... I bet there are times when it is a bit challenging, but just think of the rewards of getting to explore five unique towns along the Italian Riviera!
The trip begins in Milan, with an overnight stay. Then the next morning after a train trip to Levanto, you begin hiking from town to town. While you walk, you go past olive groves, beautiful multi-colored painted houses like the ones pictured here, ancient ruins and beautiful gardens. Every day begins with a fantastic Italian breakfast.
Just looking into all of this makes me want to GO on one of these trips! This one especially to Cinque Terre and the Italian Riviera is really fascinating to me since Italy is one place I have never been and would love to visit some day!
Even hiking through the California mountains would be absolutely beautiful and I imagine it is a lot like the hiking my husband and I do here in southern Nevada. The scenery is breathtaking and it is so nice to get out and enjoy the fresh, clear mountain air. The other wonderful benefit is all the exercise you would get going on one of these hiking vacations.
Imagine the stories you would have to tell after returning from a trip to a place like Cinque Terre in the Italian Riviera or gorgeous Bryce Canyon National Park or beautiful Angels Park in Zion Park in Utah, or hiking in the California mountains and in the Big Sur area, or trekking through Death Valley.
Imagine warm moonlit nights talking with new found friends about the adventures you've just experienced. Imagine sipping a cup of hot tea and eating a delightful home-baked brownie (I TOLD you the food is delicious on these vacations!). Imagine returning home with a heart full of wonderful memories of fun trips, exciting new places you've been and the new friends you've made. It's all possible when you go on a Call of the Wild Women Only vacation.
