Old Shrewsbury Village Makes Shopping Memorable Fun
A Walking and Shopping Village for All Seasons
Shop and Eat Lunch where Fun is in the Air ~
One of cutest places to visit while you are in Massachusetts for leaf-peeping season is Old Shrewsbury Village in Central Massachusetts, on the border of Northboro and Shrewsbury, where Routes 9 and 20 meet. It has the charm of a small New England shopping village, with a bridge over a brook between the parking area and the pedestrian walkways. The buildings that house the shops and restaurants have a "gingerbread" feel to them, painted in bright pastel colors that give the entire place a sweet, cozy feel.
On your drive West from Boston to the Berkshires, stop for lunch at one of the lovely eateries there. My daughter and I ate at the Indian Kebab and Grille , which served generous portions of food. The server is very friendly and will let you know which dishes are mildest and which are most spicy. His wife is the chef, and our lunch was delicious.

Have a party and make some paper flowers ~
Paper flowers make lovely gifts and decorations. They are soft and romantic, and evoke fond memories of fun times with friends. This book was spotted at JoAnn's when we browsed through the store.
Complete your Afternoon with a Treat ~
Enjoy the foliage as you walk between the Christmas Tree Shop, Cape Cod Crafters, Yankee Candle, and Jo Ann's Fabrics and Crafts. There is also a dance school, a candy shop, and an eye care store there, too. Outside one gift store there were scarecrows, pumpkins, and a harvest of other autumn decorations beckoning us as we walked by. In the building that houses the Christmas Tree Shop there were clean restrooms, and on the way my daughter became enamored of a giant, brown, marble ball with water falling on all sides into a base with many scattered coins. It is a very pretty fountain and it reminded her of a globe.
The final stop of our visit was Jo Ann's Fabric and Crafts store, where we bought enough nylon and craft supplies to keep us busy until Christmastime, when we will return for more. We look forward to soaking up the holiday atmosphere. I can already imagine how it will look with strings of lights, and perhaps some carolers serenading shoppers outside.
