Tents - Which one suits you - Diamantina Mono or escape
What Tent do I buy ?
Choosing a tent to buy doesn't look as simple these days with such a large variety of choice on the market.
Everybody has different tastes in features while making a buying decision, some wants to save money, or save weight and some look for ventilation, space, sturdiness, versatility, storage areas, tent shape and height, amount of windows, number of doors, color etc.
The questions to ask yourself would be
What can I afford to spend on a tent ?
What size tent do I need ?
Do I want to be able to stand up in my tent ?
What features are most important to us ?
How many people will be sleeoing in the tent ?
Am I happy to spend time fiddling around putting a tent up or do we want one that goes up really fast so we can sit down with a beer sooner !
Once you have worked out what kind of tent you believe you are after then it is time for the shopping trip.
A good time to buy one is at a caravan & camping show for tents on special.

How will you carry the tent ?
This will also determine which kind of tent is required, as if it would be carried in a trailer or by car, weight will not matter. But if you are going backpacking then it should be light enough for you to carry.
Is it Rain-Wind proof - Ventilated ?
If a tent cannot stand extreme weather conditions it is not worth buying. So- it is important that the tent is completely seam taped to prevent leaks in the rain. Tents that are not free standing are fine in protected campsites where one can stake them out well but rarely match the stability of free-standing models. Free-standing tents are more sturdy, weatherproof, keeps walls from sagging, and allows zippers to slide more easily
A tent should be wind poofed designed that it does not get blown away in severe winds. Designs like, A-frame, tunnel and dome shaped serve this purpose well.
Ventilation is the most significant consideration while buying a tent as in the past, there have been incidents where people die inside tents doe to suffocation.
