Thanksgiving Day Travels

Thanksgiving Day Travels

Who else is traveling long distance for this Thanksgiving day? I have not been back east in years. My parents are retired and can come and visit me at least once a year. This year however my Mom has been ill so I will be jaunting back to upstate N.Y. for the week of Thanksgiving. I think it will take on a whole new meaning this year for me. In the last 20 years or so I have not ventured back east during the holidays because of all the snow and being afraid of getting stuck at the airport. So I would just visit them in the spring and summer months. This year I have had 4 people in my life die and so I am starting to see that if I don't go now it may be the last time I see her. I'm hoping of course that she will be o.k., tests have been made and we are all just waiting on results, but are all hopeful for a solution.

The point is holiday traveling can be very expensive and stressful but the situation with my mom is such that it is a necessity. I just hope I will not get stuck in the airport and that everything will run smoothly. I also hope for any of you traveling this holiday that everything goes smoothly for you as well ,hopefully with no delays or cancellations. I know in N.Y.C. and the eastern end of Long Island is devastated from "Sandy" and now another snow storm but so far where my parents live the weather is not that awful ,thank goodness.

So for holiday traveling I have booked ahead of time and have worked out days and times that are the most reasonable price and will have several stop overs but I will just have a carry on and me. I wouldn't recommend this type of travel if you have children. It will be interesting to see how I fare but the price was right . It's always good to shop around for the best times and rates for whatever destination you are traveling too and travel agents are the best way to go if you can afford the fees but looking online does pay off. I know we are not supposed to say names of companies so I won't . Just know that great rates are to be found if you take the time to search.

Happy early Thanksgiving Day to you all and be well and stay safe if you are traveling.
