Thanksgiving Travel Tips

Thanksgiving Travel Tips

Thanksgiving Travel Tips. According to AAA at least 42.2 million Americans will be traveling for Thanksgiving this year. thats A 11.4 % increase this year than last year. Some people will travel at least 50 miles from home. Most of these travelers will be driving while others will take to the friendly skies. This year is predicted to bring more delays and headaches. Some is due to airport security measures. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year, so make your travel less stressful. Take your time when planning you travel itinerary. Make sure you plan your trip well. The biggest problem with traveling is when you leave last minute and you did not make your plans till last minute. This can be a recipe for a stressful holiday. The biggest travel days are Wednesday and Thursday. If possible try to leave during the week . If your schedule allows leave earlier during the week in the morning hours. Most Highways seem to have more traffic between 9 am and 12 noon. Leaving earlier helps to avoid traffic or traffic jams. You can sometimes get stuck in traffic jams for hours. Don't let this happen to you if traveling with children. Remember their are no bath room breaks in a traffic jam. If traveling by car with children always take along some snacks. This will help from stopping as often. Don't let your child fill up on liquids this is bad. You will have to make more stops and this will delay your arrival. The best advice is take bath room breaks when you stop for gas. By doing this if possible will hasten your travel time in the car. This will lesson the car stops you will have to make. When traveling by car take along some entertainment for your children. With the latest technology we have take along some sort of a hand held game or watch a movie while traveling. If you don't have these capabilities a coloring book works just as well. What child doesn't love to color. If traveling by air always use patience this time of year. You may need them due to air port security. If traveling for Christmas these tips will help as well. Have a safe Thanksgiving to you and your family from my self and family.
