The Avenue District, Cleveland, Ohio
The Avenue District is an ambitious mixed-use development currently underway at the eastern limits of Cleveland’s central downtown core.
Under development by Zaremba, Inc., a local residential and mixed-use developer, The Avenue District consists of a number of blocks lying north of Superior Avenue and east of East 12th Street, just beyond the Tower and Galleria of Erieview. At completion, the overall development is slated to include over 400 dwelling units, arrayed among condominiums, lofts, townhomes and penthouses. Convenience needs of the District’s residents will be met in part by grade and structured parking, street-level retail and a rich pedestrian environment. Additional street and infrastructure improvements are being provided by the City of Cleveland.
Construction of the first buildings of The Avenue District — designed by the local architectural firm of City Architecture, Inc. — commenced in 2006, and the first few are now complete, with residents slowly arriving. The build-out of additional phases is of course contingent on the economy and market forces, as well as on continuing work in city streetscaping.
