Updated on May 14, 2013

London's Top Hotel

A London luxury hotel, The Dorchester opened on the eighteenth of April in 1931. It overlooks Hyde Park and is situated on Park Lane, Mayfair. This hotel is one of the world's most desirable places to stay. A great reputation embodying top traditional values and luxurious amenities with spacious suites and rooms of total charm plus a spa you can indulge in makes this hotel the pinnacle of ease and luxury for half a century.

World War II

In WWII, the construction strength gave the hotel its reputation of being the safest building in London. Winston Churchill and Cabinet Ministers Duff Cooper and Lord Halifax stayed in this hotel at this time. To his balcony, Churchill had a wall built for added privacy which remains to this day. On teh first floor, General Dwight D. Eisenhower took a suite. Dorchester diners from this period include Edith Sitwell, Harold Nicolson, T.S. Eliot and Cyril Connolly.

Suites and Rooms

The Dorchester introduces twenty-two new suites by Alexandra Champalimaude, interior designer. Remaining true to the classic residential style of the hotel, the new suites merge timeless glamour and contemporary comfort to the world-renowned heritage of the property. The Harlequin, Terrace and Audley roof suites remind you of old glamour from Hollywood. These suites feature luxurious, modern and fresh styles with large terraces outside. Unrivaled London views and on hand butlers address your every need.
