Things to do in Beaver Falls Pa
Beaver Falls in Beaver County, Pennsylvania
I've been to Beaver Falls many times. I've put a few things together to do if you live there or if you are passing through. I'm not confining this to just within the city limits so some of these things are in close proximity. Please share your comments about the area or add additional things to do in the comments below. Thanks.
If you are unfamiliar with the area, Beaver Falls is a small rustbelt city in Beaver County whose peak population was in the 1940s, along with many other steel towns in western Pennsylvania. There were about 10,000 people living there during the 2000 census. Beaver Falls is known as the setting for the late 1980s sitcom Mr Belvedere and was the home of legendary Hall of Fame NFL quarterback Joe Namath.
Pisgah Program Challenge Course
A roping adventure course located just across the Beaver River from Beaver Falls on a wooded hilltop. Geneva College is a Christian school and the course is designed to promote leadership development, marriage enrichment, drug and alcohol prevention, and other positive goals. Their site says that they will custom tailor the course to your individual needs, goals, and group size. They can accommodate athletic teams, youth groups, mission trips, corporations, etc. There is a minimum group size of 6 so bring some friends. It sounds fun with elements like Flying Squirrel, Giant Swing, Vertical Playpen, Zip Line, Commando Crawl, Hand Rings, Swinging Logs, Electric Fence, and more, and it appears they have an excellent track record on safety. It's also very economical at approx. $20-32 per person. See their site for contact and reservation information.

Happy Days Car Cruise
Happy Days Car Cruise is Beaver County's biggest car cruise featuring antique and classic cars. It's held on the second Saturday of June. The cruise follows both lanes of 7th Avenue twelve or more blocks through Downtown Beaver Falls. The streets and parking spaces are filled with classic cars of many makes, years, and models. There are no admission or registration fees and the event is all day from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The video below was taken Saturday, June 13, 2009.
In moments of extreme boredom you can always just go to see a movie.
Plaza Cinemas is located north of Beaver Falls on Route 18. It's a multi-screen theater, with bargain matinees on Sat. and Sun. Good theatre, prices, screens, and sound from what I remember. Call (724) 846-2877 for show times.
Bed and Breakfast
The Inn on College Hill
I'm not sure if I've ever seen this Bed and Breakfast. For their rates ($65-$85 as of this writing) including free breakfast I could see staying here as opposed to the Holiday Inn over on Route 18. It's only 3 blocks from Geneva College as well, so perfect if visiting students from out of town. When you go, please pet Rolig for me!
Oram's Donut Shop
Oram's has excellent doughnuts. Check out the photos on their history page. They go back to 1938. I listed this one as it's well-known outside of B.F. as well.
Beaver Falls YMCA. There's a Y at 732 3rd Ave in Beaver Falls. If you've been there, let us know how it is. (Or if it is. I heard they closed it when the one in New Brighton went up)
New Brighton YMCA. I went to this Y right after it opened. It's a great facility. This is a very short drive from Beaver Falls. State-of-the-art gym equipment with swimming pool, hot tub, basketball, weightlifting. Lots of programs. Aquatics, youth, adult, wellness, group cycling and group exercise. They also offer child care. The video below is a tour of the facility.
So hopefully I've given you a few ideas on things to do in B.F. I don't know a whole lot about Beaver Falls. To me, it's a quiet, historic little city. I've walked through many parts of it over the years but as far as the best restaurants and what else there is to do for fun, I'd need some help in the comment section. Thanks.
