Southern Bali Introduction

From all regions in Bali, southern area is a leader destination. Tons of hotel and restaurants run the business in here. It makes tourists can easily get their daily needs in Southern Bali. This circumstance makes most tourists prefer to stay in here.

The big question is where to stay while there are many promising destinations in here? To those who have a plan for honeymoon vacation, there are many options such like Ungasan, Canggu and Jimbaran. Pecatu, Tanjung Benoa and Nusa Lembongan are great areas for underwater junkies, surfer freaks and beach bums. For culture tourism, you can put Denpasar, Beraban and Mengwi into your list trip. Taman Ayun, which has existed since year 1634, is a trademark of Mengwi Village. Not far from it, there are two interesting attractions; they are Manusa Yadnya and Mandala Wisata. The first one is a museum that shows the journey of human life, while the second is facility area for tourists who get here.

Not from the attractions at above, there is Balam Bali Villa. This accommodation is worth for money. You will not regret if you choose it as your second home in Bali. To get here, your trip is about 40 – 50 minutes over 10 miles from Denpasar City or Ngurah Rai International Airport.


Bali has many romantic destinations for honeymooners. Echo Beach is one of them. Previously, Batu Mejan was the name of it. Then, the name has changed since Echo Beach Restaurant and Villa Echo Beach run the business at here.

The other alternative beach is Brawa in Canggu. This beach is not crowd as Kuta or Sanur. Further, the wave at Brawa Beach is good enough for surfers.

Stay in Canggu is very worth and recommendable. A few places for stay such like Wayan’s Guest House or Voyager Boutique Creative Retreat is acceptable as a second residence on Southern Bali. For romantic breakers, Karma Kandara Beach is a right destination. The area bit secluded, but it is possible to get here. First, you must pass the road until the end of the cliff. The cliff itself sets up to 200 meters above sea level. You can see Indian Ocean panorama from here. One word, it is outstanding! After that, you must down the cliff through the ladder that approximately up to 300 steps.

To those who want to relax and release the stress, they can try to visit Batu Page Beach. It is a small beach, but it offers astonishing panorama, especially at sunset. Public facilities stand not far away from Batu Page Temple. Make sure to spend a few hours in here.

Ungasan is a perfect spot to look nearby areas from height, such like Kuta, Ngurah Rai International Airport and Tanjung Benoa. Just prepare yourself in 30 – 40 minutes for 20 miles from Denpasar.

Tanjung Benoa

Located in Benoa Village, The area is calm and perfect for hassle escape. Water sport activities are available on the ground, such like snorkeling, parasailing, scuba diving and banana boat.

It is not a big problem to find place to stay in Tanjung Benoa. Melia Benoa and Rumah Bali Bed & Breakfast are some examples.

Not far from Tanjung Benoa, there is an attraction for animal lovers. It is Deluang Sari. This is an area for sea turtle breeding. The ecology systems still genuine in Deluang Sari and that is the reason it is the right place for turtle breeding. The community is supportive with this issue. The involvement of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) adds this movement more organized and neat.


Tourists, who would like to stay at high-end area, Seminyak is your best option. As a beach town, Seminyak is better and prestigious than Kuta and Legian.

Here, you have a chance to explore Petitenget Temple, which stands at Petitenget Beach. Not far from it, Tony’s Villas is a little hidden gem in Seminyak Area. For romantic breakers, this place is a hassle free lodging. The other alternative residences are The Samaya Bali and The Ulin Villas & Spa. For budget travelers, Teka – Teki House is a hope for you.

Nusa Lembongan Island

Nusa Lembongan is the most beautiful among hers sister islands (Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida). The environment is fresh, and there are great hotels and resorts run on this island. Do not forget to dive and take underwater photos at Nusa Lembongan.

Jungut Batu is a most popular beach among the others. You can stay at Indiana Kenanga for B&B type or Secret Garden Bungalows for villa type. Mushroom Bay is a second favorite tourist spot in here. Further, you can check out Tanis Villas. At south area, the other beaches are waiting for you; they are Dream Beach and Sunset Beach. The existence of Gala Cave makes your journey more complete. Spending a holiday at Nusa Lembongan is not complete if you do not explore local art shops and villages.

Built around 15th century, Tanah Lot is one of the icons in Bali. This religious site offers astonishing view, where the temple separates from mainland. If the tide goes low, visitors can visit this temple closer. Thus, when the tide goes up, it looks like a ship on the ocean.

Sing Beach or Pantai Nyanyi (In Indonesian Language) is the other place in Bali that still fresh and not yet noisy. The sand beach is dark, and it looks like black diamond when the sunlight hits the beach.

The journey takes eight until nine miles in 20 minutes from Tabanan Town to Beraban Village usually. For better experience, rent car along with local guide is a good idea.

Jimbaran is one of romantic spots in Bali. Visitors who prefer the accommodation in this area, they can research about Kayumanis Jimbaran Estates & Spa, Ayana Resort & Spa and Abi Bali Boutique Resort & Villas on the internet.

Tourist who loves seafood, Jimbaran is a well place. Many seafood restaurants run in this fishing village. In addition, Lia Café is one of the best. A place for Asian Cuisine lover in Jimbaran, it is Waroeng Kampoeng.

Do not forget to hang out at Balangan, which is one of beautiful beaches on Southern Bali. It is not hard to get here. All you need is courage. There are two ways to reach this beach; they are Pecatu Hill and Ungasan Hill. The first option bit far, while the second option is closer.


Bali Art Center or Taman Werdhi Budaya is a place to perform culture and art in Denpasar. Located on Nusa Indah Road, this art center exhibits the annual event at June – July each year.

In order to respect Balinese People who involved against Dutch in 1906, the local government built Puputan Monument in the heart of Denpasar City. Time goes on, but this monument reminds to all people with the courage of Balinese Community at that time.

Uluwatu is one of favorite destinations in Bali. There is also important temple for Balinese in here. The temple stands on high cliff at Southern Bali. Alila Villas Uluwatu or Bulgari Hotels & Resorts Bali is a lovely residence in Pecatu Village.

The new Kuta has born, and it is Dreamland. This beach is a new heaven for beach hunters and surfers. It is not a quiet beach. However, it is better than Kuta. Speaking about surfing, Pecatu has already gained a great reputation to surfer community. One thing that you must remember, the wave is not friendly if you are a beginner surfer. So please, take a red note about this matter.

Suluban is another beautiful area for honeymooners in Bali. "Mesulub", which means walking through something at above, is another name for this beach. In addition, the name says the condition at all, where you must pass a cave to reach the beach area.

For journey, it takes 20 miles for 40 – 50 minutes from Denpasar to get here.
