Top 5 Reasons Visit Branson, Missouri

Updated on May 27, 2009

There are thousands of reasons to take your family to Branson any time of year. Here are just a few of the things that make Branson such a popular year-round midwest vacation destination.

1. The Shows

Branson is famous for its shows, which include plays, musical reviews, comedians, puppetry, concerts, and other entertainment. Some shows are Branson staples, such as Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Show, which includes horse tricks, ostrich racing, funny commentary, and a comical depiction of the quarrel between the North and the South. You will enjoy a delicious meal while watching the show, which is family-friendly and appropriate for children. The Yakov Smirnoff Show is also one of Branson’s most popular, and has won Yakov the title of “Comedian of the Year” twice. Musical shows that feature music from a particular decade—the 50s, 60s, or 70s—are also popular with many guests.

2. Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City is a unique amusement park combines folk music, craft shows, and Ozarks history with great food and thrill rides. You can shoot into the air on the “Powder Keg” roller coaster, or play the part of a firefighter in “Fire-in-the-Hole.” There are also attractions for small children, including a steam train, treehouse, and the Flooded Mine. Located just minutes outside of Branson, Silver Dollar City will feed your family’s craving for thrill rides in a family-friendly environment.

3. The Shopping

Branson is home to many malls and shopping outlets that attract many tourists each year. Branson Landing is an outdoor mall with over 100 stores and a water fountain spectacular that is an attraction in itself. The Tanger Outlet Center houses many outlets of some of the most popular stores and designers in the country. The Shoppes at Branson Meadows also features many unique stores, set in a Victorian layout.

4. The Music

Hundreds of musicians come to Branson each year to give concerts. While some musical shows are a permanent feature of Branson, a rotating guest list of major artists is one of the best offerings of Branson. Gospel, blues, jazz, and country artists are all featured in a variety of venues, from the Music City Center Theatre to the Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre.

5. The Food

Dining in Branson is second to none. Many shows, such as Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, provide meals as part of the evening’s entertainment. Local restaurants, such as Top of the Rock Restaurant, The Chateau Grille, The Candlestick Inn, and Andy Williams Moon River Grille provide fine dining for a variety of budgets. No matter what your family’s tastes are, you are sure to satisfy them at a Branson restaurant—and get some entertainment with your meal!
