Tour Bohol, Philippines If You Only Have 2 Days to Spare

chocolate hills of Bohol

If you long for a beach vacation with some extra sites and activities thrown in, then Bohol, Philippines is a place to consider.

You can enjoy a tour of the island even if you only have two days to do it. You just have to plan well your tour so that you will not only be able to relax but will also be able to see two exciting rarities in the world - the chocolate hills and the tarsier.

I have written about the chocolate hills and the tarsier as well as the other places to see and activities to do in my previous hub about Bohol.

I-Recommend-a-Tour-of-Bohol-Philippines

This hub is now an outline on how to plan your trip to Bohol so you can do everything if you only have 2 days to spare.

How to Get to Bohol

Get the earliest possible flight from Manila to Tagbilaran (the capital of Bohol) so that you will be able to make full use of your day. There are two major airlines that have daily flights to Bohol (Philippine Air Lines and Cebu Pacific).

It is best if you have a contact in Bohol who can arrange for a pick up from the airport and then drive you around for the tour. A private car or van is best, so you can control the time and the stops.

You can also make previous arrangements with either your hotel or the local Tourism office. Better still, if you know somebody from Bohol who can help you with the arrangements.

Chocolate Hills and Tarsier

Once you get out of Tagbilaran airport, you can drive and stop in the city for breakfast and then proceed right away to the chocolate hills site. There are two places where you can get the best view of the Chocolate hills:

1) Sagbayan Peak - a privately owned resort. The peak has a nice view of the hills plus it has a small garden, a butterfly garden and some tarsiers.

So in just one location, you right away can experience the two most popular activities in Bohol – viewing the chocolate hills and having a close encounter with tarsiers. The butterfly garden is a bonus already. There is also a restaurant in this resort.

2) Chocolate Hills National Monument - a government operated site where you can view the hills from atop one of the hills. There are also several souvenirs shops at the base of the hill.

Mahogany Forest and Loboc River Cruise

You will work out an appetite from the visit to the Chocolate Hills, so the next stop in your itinerary should be lunch on board a floating restaurant in the Loboc river.

On the way to Loboc river however, you can pass along a long stretch of a man-made mahogany forest. This is a cool site for taking photos.

Lunch on board a floating restaurant is buffet so check the menu of each of the boats before getting your tickets. Most menus will include fresh seafood but there are variations in the other dishes.

Along the ride down the river, there is a stop-over point where you will be treated to a cultural presentation. In addition, there is usually a live band that will serenade you as you have your lunch on this river tour.

Prony the Python

After your lunch tour, you can drive to a mini zoo in Alburquerque to check out Prony, a 23 ft python. You will be entertained by Miramar about the story of Prony. You can also have a picture with Prony.

There are some birds as well as some rare plants in this mini zoo.

Panglao Island, Blood Compact Sculpture, Old Churches

The best beach-side hotels are found in Panglao island. So this is where you should book your hotel.

On the way to Panglao island, you will pass by the Blood Compact sculpture so taking a quick stop for a photo is best at this time.

There are also some old and interesting churches like the Dauis church, on the way, so you might want to include short visits to these churches on your way to Panglao island.

There are several hotels to choose from here depending on your previous arrangement and of course your budget. There are the luxurious hotels like Escaya Beach Resort and Bohol Beach Club and there are budget hotels like Dumaluan Beach Resort and Bohol Bee Farm.

Bohol Bee Farm by the way is what you might consider as a boutique type of hotel. It serves some rare, specially prepared food in its restaurant and its rooms are themed.

Dolphin Watching, Snorkeling

What to do after you check in at your hotel?

You can walk on the beach or enjoy a swim or both. After you have your fill of the beach, arrange with your hotel an early morning tour for dolphin watching and then island hopping and snorkeling.

Get a good night's rest and prepare for your half-day sea adventure tour. You have to catch the dolphins playing early in the morning and you can spend the rest of it island hopping and snorkeling. The underwater world is fantastic, so you should not miss this adventure.

Time to Say Goodbye

You can check out of your hotel after lunch and drive to the city for some shopping before you catch the last flight back to Manila.

So if you just have 2 days to spare, you can combine a sea and land adventure in Bohol.

If you want more extreme adventure however like caving, ziplining or plunging, you will need to stay one more day because the extreme adventure site which is in Danao is about a half day drive from Tagbilaran City.

Hi Carol,

Thanks for dropping by my friend. As always, you make me happy with your visit and comment.

I was actually scared of going inside that cage. However, the caretaker assured us that it's perfectly okay. So I touched the snake gingerly just to have photo with it. Later, the caretaker told us that in about 2 days time, the snake will be hungry for its next meal. Hahaha! What if it decided to have an early meal with us there inside the cage? Whew!

Thanks again for the visit and lovely comment!

God bless!

Hi Tony,

Nice to see you my friend!

Yes, from where you are, you will need more than 2 days of course. The trip is really worth it, so after Boracay you should add this to your itinerary when you have time to come over.

Thanks for the visit and wonderful comment my friend!

God bless!

A beautiful place, although I am terrified of snakes and could never get close enough to a 23 foot python to have a photo taken. If I could pass on that one detail, it sounds like a wonderful vacation. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mike,

Bohol is really a beautiful place to visit.

You can always skip the python part of the tour. Our tour guide just included it in our tour because she knows that I am a zoologist. It was just sleeping most of the time anyway.

Thanks for the visit and wonderful comment!

God bless!

Hi Prasetio,

Nice to see you again!

Thank you very much for your lovely comment. Yes, include Bohol in your list of places to visit.

Well, the chocolate hills cannot be eaten but they do look like Hersheys chocolate kisses especially during the summer months when the plants turn brown.

Thank you very much for the rate up!

God bless!

Hi Cindy,

It's great to see you here!

I wasn't brave at all, I was actually scared. However, I couldn't resist a photo-op with a 23 m python. Hahaha!

Yes, Bohol is a nice place to visit. If you get a chance, do visit it.

Thanks for your appreciation of my photos!

God bless!

I want tarsier! She/He is cute! I think Philippines is a very interesting country located on so many, many - I think around seven thousand - islands... Wow! Great hub! Thank you.

Hello Jantamaya,

It's nice to see you!

Since you have been all over the world, I suggest that you add the Philippines to your next list of places to go to. Then you can see your tarsier. Yes, we have 7,000plus islands.

Hope to see you here!

God bless!
