Tourist Attractions in Egypt

Egypt is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Egypt has a moderate climate all over the year, which makes the tourists to visit this place throughout the year.The major attractions in Egypt include the many historically important places like pyramids and temples, beautiful and serine Oasis and the Senai region. There lots of swimming opportunities in the Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts. The underwater life is very colorful here.


The Nile:

The Nile is the longest river in Africa. The name of the Nile River is derived from the Greek word "Nelios", which means the River Valley. The most spectacular view of Nile can be seen when it thunders over the Tisisat Falls near Bahar Dar, forming millions of gallons of water cascade and creating spectacular rainbows, earning its name ‘Smoking Water’. The Nile River in Egypt forms a highly cultivated land for Nile River Valley and Nile River Delta, that small, narrow strip part of Egypt embraces more than 90 percent of the population.

Thus, you can see the major cities and places of Egypt on the boarders of Nile, while on the Nile cruise. The beautiful sunset view in the Nile should never be missed out.

Cairo: Historical Capital:

 Cairo is the great Capital of Egypt with a complex blend of different civilizations and therefore is unique place to live in. It is considered to be the largest city in Africa and has a fine weather throughout the year. Cairo bares a significant, flourishing historical background that starts from the Pharaonic period passing through the Greco-Roman, Jewish, and Coptic, till the Islamic period. Thus, there are several historical sites in Cairo. Some of the major attractions of this place are

The city of Alexandria - The Pearl of the Mediterranean

The City is Known as the "Pearl of the Mediterranean", this is the second largest city in Egypt. The Alexandria museum, located here is considered to be one of the best museums in Egypt. . Heading to the west of Alexandria with about 60km, lies the extended breathtaking beaches of the North Coast and the tourist’s villages. Some of the other major attractions are

Luxor:

Luxor is one of the greatest capitals of the ancient world, has often been called the world's greatest open-air museum, used to be known as “Thebes " capital of Egypt during the ancient Egyptian period.

Oasis:

The oasis in Egypt comprises the many depressions in the desert regions of Egypt and the only places of relief in the deserts. The two major Oases are

  1. The Fayom Oasis -The Fayom Oasis gets much of its water supply from the river Nile, and also from the underground water reservoir and irrigation canals .This is a densely populated region.
  2. The The Siwa Oasis. -The Siwa Oasis is famous for its dates and olives, and is one of the most beautiful landscapes and springs in Egypt. It lies 60 feed below sea level.

 The Dakhla Oasis, the Farafra oasis and the Kharga Oasis are situated in The New Valley and enjoys a mixture of the desert environment, green plains, wells, and Sulphur-rich springs, both cold and hot.

Sinai and the Red Sea:

 The Red Sea Egypt is located on the eastern coast of Mainland Egypt that borders this sea and the shores of the Sinai Peninsula. Red Sea of Egypt is famous for its rich coral reefs and teeming underwater life Red Sea ports are the departure points for snorkeling, diving and fishing excursions.

Sharm El Sheik, one of the world’s most extraordinary diving destinations is in the Red Sea. The crystal clear water, wonderful corals, rare tropical fish, exotic under water flora all makes this destination a diving paradise. The white sandy beaches and endless desert landscape contrasts with the crystal clear blue water of Sinai Peninsula.

The moderate weather throughout the year and the calm shores makes this place favorite destination for the tourists.  


Aswan:

Aswan, Egypt's sunniest southern city has a slow pace of life and a relaxing atmosphere. You can enjoy watching the sailboats heading to the sky with their tall masts or can sit in floating restaurants listening to Nubian music and eat freshly caught fish, in the Nile River. Swimming is another popular attraction of this place. Some of the major attractions here are

  • High Dam
  • Man-made lakes
  • Nubian villages of Koti and Soti
  • Unfinished Obelisk etc. 

You can also watch the performances of the Nubian dancers and the Folklore troupes or take a camel ride 

Sahara Desert:

Some of the views of the Sahara desert are ancient date, olive groves, beautiful and peaceful oases, and other fascinating natural wonders. The Libyan Sahara desert is one of the popular destinations, where Sahara Desert approaches the Nile. You can see Bahariya Oasis, Siwa Oasis, Farafra Oasis, Fayoum Oasis, Black Desert, White Desert and several other attractions in this area.

The Arabian Desert is isolated from rest of Egypt and does not have any Oasis. Monasteries of St. Paul and St. Anthony and temple ruins are some of the views of this region.
