Valentines Weekend Get Away
Valentines Day is coming around the corner, soon you and your loved one will be spending the day together, so what do you have planned? Candy, Flowers, the usual...Let's try something different, something that they would not expect. Here are a few ideas:
Santa Barbara California
Set reservations at the Wine Valley Inn. It boasts 57 rooms and several cottages. The cottages have living rooms, fireplaces, and private patios, the surroundings are reminiscent of the old world with its English Tudor styled buildings complete with clock tower. Once you're settled in drive to the De-Stress Café for a 30 min. massage starting at $38. I say start the weekend out right, right? Then, drive over to Sunstone Vineyards which resembles a Provencal farmhouse, the tasting room has this cozy feel and romantic ambiance that feels the air, and for $10 you can sample 6 wines. Buy a couple bottles of your favorite wines, and then drive yourselves over to Los Olivos Grocery where their trained chef will whip up some homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches to go. Go back to your inn toss a blanket in front of the fireplace, light a fire, and have yourself a beautiful Valentine’s Day picnic. The next day you may want to try something a little pricier, like an elegant dinner for two. If so, go to Brothers’ Restaurant inside Mattei’s Tavern, and order the filet mignon in port wine sauce, and if you don‘t have a taste for that they also have other fantastic entrees starting at $17…Believe me this will be a weekend filled with romance and love.
Here is another destination you may wish to try:
Set reservations at the Yountville Inn which has 51 rooms of exposed wood beam ceilings and fieldstone fireplaces. Once you settle in drive to the Calistoga Massage Center. Again start the weekend out right by obtaining a 30 min. massage which starts at $45. Then, drive over to the Peju Province Winery which sits amongst fountains and statues of myth. Test taste their wines for a $10 fee, but most of all try their cabernet sauvignons which they are best known for. After purchasing a couple of bottles of your favorites, drive to the Oakville Grocery Store, which has been voted by its people “as the place that makes the best sandwiches in the upper valley,” buy a couple sandwiches then drive to The Cheesemaker’s Daughter. Now this place sells some of the best cheeses around and with its vast assortment to choose from you can‘t go wrong. Again, drive back to your inn, spread a blanket out in front of the fireplace, light a fire, and have yourself a beautiful Valentines Day Picnic. On the following night for something a little more pricier go to Julia’s Kitchen, you guessed it right it’s named after Julia Child, order the duck confit cassouelt and roasted quail, and if you don’t have a taste for that they have several entrees that start at $18, corkage fee $15...This will be a weekend get away your loved one will never forget.
(All the above mentioned sites have web sites you can view prior to making reservations, just search them out by name, it’s that easy.) And enjoy your Valentines Day Weekend Get Away.
