Veli Lake and tourist village- famous tourist spot in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India

Veli is one of the most popular areas of interest by most of the sightseers. It is actually a village, which is developed as a tourist spot, due to its location. It is situated around 12 km from the heart of Trivandrum city, away from all disturbances of the day to day life.

Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) being the capital city of Kerala state is known for its scenic beauty. It does contain tourist spots ranging from hill stations, back waters, lagoons and wild life sanctuaries etc. Being an area surrounded by the sea, it is a place of special interest for all the foreigners and keralites itself. Veli is one of the famous tourist spot in Trivandrum. Veli is one of the most popular areas of interest by most of the sightseers. It is actually a village, which is developed as a tourist spot, due to its location. It is situated around 12 km from the heart of Trivandrum city, away from all disturbances of the day to day life.

Topmost attraction does include boating in Veli Lake, view of beach which is nearby, Children’s park near to beach, horse riding by the side of the beach, sculptures in stone and figures in grass by the famous artists/ sculptor – Mr Kanayi Kunjuraman.

Veli Village is open from Morning 8am to Evening 6pm; you have a small entrance fee to be paid, later entering straight into the landscape garden, where in you may see wading pools, a fish pond, where you could see fishes. It is a major attraction as, most of the visitors, do give food to the fishes in the ponds, and also you could enjoy the scenic beauty of garden, ponds and steps associated with it.

Later you will be led to the Ice-cream parlors and by the side, there is the ticket counter for boating- Boating does includes, speed boats, pedal boats, motor bike rides etc. After riding you could move on towards the beach and you will come across the Floating restaurant operated by KTDC (Kerala Tourism Development Corporation).

Again moving further, you could see the sea, and to reach towards the beach, you will have to cross the floating bridge made of wood on the lake. Later you will come across small shops and a small amusement park for kids. And Horse riding is the main attraction in the beach. Games are also going on here.

Beach is the last stop and I do ask not to enter the sea, as there are no life guards over here. This is what I would like to share with you about the Veli Lake and Tourist village.
