7 Big Reasons Why People Love Boracay

Why do people go to Boracay (Philippines)? What makes them enjoy their stay there?

Boracay is a photographer's haven, so ever since I started my photography adventure, I have been going back there. Some will say, but it's the same old beach, the same old thing. Not for me though. I always find something new every time I am there.

Just like any photo enthusiast, I always take pictures of the scenery and especially watch out for the beautiful Boracay sunset. The last time I was there however, I focused more on the people and tried to discover what they do in Boracay. The pictures in this hub show what I discovered.

I felt like a paparazzi when I was taking pictures but I took care not to intrude on the people and only took photos with no recognizable faces. There is one exception though, the picture of the two girls playing. I actually made friends with these girls. They enjoyed posing for me and looking at their photos on my camera screen.

Boracay is One Big Park and Playground

To most people, Boracay is one big park and playground. What do you do in a park? Play, eat, ride, read, exercise, rest, sleep and just about anything, right? Well, that’s what people do in Boracay and more.

In a park, there usually is no swimming. If you want to swim you have to go somewhere else. But in Boracay, you can do all those things and enjoy a swim as well. Actually, I believe that people go to Boracay to swim but then they discover that they can do those other activities as well.

So here are the pictures. I just limited my observations to the activities of people on the beach.

To get a vantage point of what is happening at the beach, I went up the grotto found on top of the Boracay landmark and took this picture.

When it's low tide, the beach extends far out to the sea as can be seen in this photo. People just walk, sit, play or do almost anything they feel like doing. I went to Boracay off season so the beach is not full.

During peak season however (November to July), this beach is simply filled with people from all walks of life. There still is space but chances are you will bump into somebody the moment you move a few feet. Not like in this photo wherein the "lovebirds" in the photo are practically left alone by most of the people around.

More Reasons Why People Love Boracay

I've got more photos to share but I think you get an idea of why people love Boracay. I have not even included here photos of people doing more adventurous activities at sea, like diving or snorkeling and other sea sports.

Plus of course there are parties along the beach every night.

I also have other hubs about Boracay. Check them out for more reasons why people love Boracay.

Jill,

as usual your pictures are moving. I really liked "I believe I can fly" What an amazing place. I see why it is so popular. Don't give up on me on the pics u sent to me - I am writing a lot on a prayer blog for a major event coming up and it takes a lot of my energy to keep up. Something will come to me sooner or later

Hi Coffeesnob,

It's always a joy to read your heartwarming words! Thank you very much my friend.

There is no hurry at all in writing and the pics. Everything always comes naturally when we don't force ourselves to do certain things. There is time and reason for everything. I'm sure you will find the inspiration in due time.

God bless and good luck in your event!

Hello Catherine,

Thank you for dropping by and leaving a wonderful comment.

Yes, if you are planning a holiday sometime soon, put Boracay on top of your list. I promise, you will not regret it! Best time to visit will be between November and July - the peak months. The prices might be higher then but weather-wise they are best. Within these peak months, between Feb and March will be best because by this time the number of people will be a little less compared with summer and Christmas breaks.

Thanks very much James! You know what, I did not use a blue filter here, just a uv filter. The color is really like that!

Hi James,

Thanks for coming back. Yes, the color appeared bluer than usual that day. I don't really know why.

Sorry it took me this long to answer you. We have been in the middle of one of the worst typhoons ever and this time our family was directly affected by floods. Check out my post in the forum, hubbers hangout.

Hi Cheeky Girl,

Sorry for the late answer. I failed to check out some of my hubs lately, this one included.

You are right, once you are in Boracay, you don't want to go home anymore. It's just so nice there especially during off season months when the place is not so full of people and you can enjoy the beach without stepping into somebody's feet.

Thanks for the visit and comment. Are you Filipino?

Olga-BBC 6 years ago

Another reason to love Boracay for its wide range of water activities. Also one of my friends told me that every time he comes on Boracay there is always something new. Like this year he went to Ariel's Point trip and said that it was great discovery for him. So Boracay Island is always in movement and that's what makes it exciting!

Hello Olga,

You are absolutely right. There is really a wide range of water activities. Think of something you would like to do in/on water and chances are you can do it in Boracay.

I'm going there again this August. That's how much I love Boracay.

Thanks for the visit and wonderful comment!

I just revised the title of this hub. I simply added the words "7 Big Reasons..." I want to check if the title indeed makes a difference.

I of course added some more content.

Jill, this is a great hub. The photos are wonderful, and evoke many happy memories. I would love to retire to this place, it just has that amazing atmosphere you refer to here. I wish more people knew about it. I have been to many lovely beach resorts, but Boracay beats them all for friendliness and atmosphere.

By the way, have you ever thought of selling your photos to iPhoto or some of these Photo banks who buy quality art and photography. They may pay you good money for such great pictures. The Canon is really doing you justice here. Well done. I will read more of your great hubs! Cheers.

P.s., you have a high SEOMoz rating on this page, according to my toolbar on my pc.

Hi Cheeky Girl,

Wow! Thank you very much! Yes, I'd love to retire in Boracay too! It really is a great place!

No, I never thought about selling my photos. I really don't know how. Would you know how? That might be a good idea.

How do you see the SEOMoz rating? This is another aspect I don't really know much about. I'm no techie person you see, I just love to take photos.

I just got back from visiting Boracay again. That's why I have not been around for a week.

I can say in all honesty that Boracay is as great as ever. The 7 Big Reasons I wrote are as true as ever. I am going back again next year! Boracay is that addicting!
