How does it feel to live in New York? Like is it always fast paced?

The reason why I ask is because I've never been. I've always wanted to go. I hear New Yorkers are mean. Is that true? LOL.

    Hi, shemiahl,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

Anyway, I have been living in New York City for 32 years now and I really do love this town. Also, I live in a section of the Manhattan borough of the city that is called Spanish Harlem or El Barrio and, in my opinion, it is one of the hippest neighborhoods in the world. In fact, if you have not seen it already, take a look at my hub entitled, "There Ain't No Recession In My Neighborhood" and that will give you an idea of what my community is all about.

And yes, NYC, Mahhattan anyway, is always fast paced and it is known as the "city that never sleeps." Also, it is quite expensive to live here, largely because the rents for the apartments are very high. However, many young people who move to the city get around that by sharing apartments.

Also, there are a lot of exciting, entertaining and educational things to do here. There is "Broadway" and other live theater, plenty of real cool night clubs, numerous museums, concert halls, beautiful parks, terrific restaurants of all types, and loads-and-loads of very interesting and nice people.

I hope you get the chance to visit here some day, and if you do, be sure to let me know. I will be happy to welcome you here and to show you a few of the sites :-)

I grow up in New York city in the Bronx; NYC has never been a place in which i was always excited to live. I hated the fast pace lifestyle, i felt as if my life was passing by me each and everyday and i could not keep up. Now if you are the kind of person who did not grow up in a big city then NYC is an exciting place because of all the late night bars, clubs, comedy show and etc. But it was just not the place for me. Not all New Yorkers are mean. There are some who enjoy life in NYC but thats mainly because they have not lived there for long. All i can say is go visit and check it out for yourself because your experience will be different from mine or anyother persons.
