Haut De Cagnes, France, just fifteen miles west of Nice (French Riviera). It is a medievel mountain village and all the old serf quarters are now apartments (See my short story, "The Baroness of Haut De Cagnes" at jfrankdunkin.hubpages.com. and please leave a comment at the bottom of the story.) Haut De Cagnes is situated midway between the sparkling Mediterranean and the Maritime Alps. With a rental car, you can be in St. Tropez, Cannes, or Monte Carlo within an hour or two. Also see the mountain villages of Vence, Gourdon and Grasse (perfumeries) within the same timeframe. Can visit the Cinque Terre of Italian Riviera within about a 4 hour drive - need to stay overnight) Best time to go is late April, early May. Google it. You'll think you've died and gone on to heaven. Be sure to read my story and see photos at jfrankdunkin.hubpages.com.
