   Anyone got any experience of the Eurostar trip from UK to Paris?  And accommodation in Paris?
   
   I'm visiting family in UK in August and want to do an overnight trip to Paris.  Looking to travel on the Eurostar.  Any suggestions about travel tips, places to stay for a reasonable cost in Paris, and good eateries?  All help very welcome on this one.

   I can't say anything about the Eurostar because I have never used it.
   
   About staying in Paris overnight, I sugest you google hotels in Paris and reserve ahead. I did that and got a very nice (but small) room, about a half hour walk from the Eiffel Tower - still very much downtown! I forget the hotel's name at the moment but there are many choices, just take an hour or so to do your reasearch and compare prices. You can get good deals even in the middle of the summer (which is prime-time season for tourism in Paris).
   
   I also suggest You get a map of the subway system and use it. It is fast, it can take You anywhere and it is also rather clean and safe. Taking taxis ran me close to two-hundred Euros in my first twenty four hours there ... not ideal.
   
   Don't forget your camera - Paris is gorgeous! Enjoy your trip!
   
   P.S. Walking is fun in Paris because at every turn (at least downtown and its surrounding areas) there is something to see. I put holes in my dress shoes by the end of my trip, from so much walking. I loved it there!

   I didn't try the train as we love boats & fresh air - seeing where we are going so I highly reccomend the ferry across to France  as pulling out from the White Cliffs of Dover is amazing much better than underground if you can spare the time !!
   We only had the day there so not sure about accommodation .

   I would check the Virgin Atlantic website because sometimes they have good package deals that include train and hotel in Paris. They also have a link on their site to train packages. Also check luxurylink.com as they get some good deals on nice hotels but you have to usually bid on them. I've used them half a dozen times and always got a better deal than I'd ever be able to get on my own.

   Sorry ,just read your question now. We have taken the Eurostar years ago from Paris to London. It was fast and we were lucky because we had special fare that we just happened to know the night before.we left @ 5am from Gare de Lyon ( i think) and 3 hours later  we were at Victoria Station in London. Would suggest if you can do it to bring your own food . Extremely expensive to buy food  in the train.
   If you are flexible with your accomodations there are websites that caters to budget  travelers by locals who has spare rooms to rent or if you have rooms to spare in your own house  you can swap at later time.hope this helps and good luck in your travel. God bless.

      Thanks for the answer, but we've been and done it now.  All worked out great.  We found a hotel on hotels.com for a decent price, although it was tricky to find in the city.  The train was great if a little pricey.  All in all a memorable trip.
