What is your favorite winter get-away?

I  happen to enjoy winter, so I have no urge to "get away."  But I sure do love to curl up in front of the fireplace in a fluffy robe and a cup of tea!   Does that count as a "get-away?

It sounds so cozy, so why would you want to  go anywhere. And it would count as a get-away for me or anyone else, if  we sat in front your fireplace too.

A cruise to Mexico, or somewhere around the Gulf of Mexico. It's the off season so the cruise will be on a discount and I can get away from the cold. It is either that or going to New Orleans (my hometown) or to Florida.

I have been on a cruse to Mexico twice and it is nice.I have been to New Orleans and it is a great place. Actually one of the cruises were out of New Orleans. And Florida is fun, we especially like Disney World. Where in Florida would you ?

I would go to Tampa, where I lived for 11 years. The places I would visit include MOSI (the Museum of Science and Industry), Bush Gardens, my old neighborhood, and Idlewild (my old church). Honestly, I'm trying to hide from most of the people there.

A Southern Florida beach community.  Swimming in January is wonderful.

While I do enjoy winter here in UK I miss the sunshine and we have started to consider going somewhere sunny this year.  Our chosen destination is Canary Islands purely on  the basis that while there are many gorgeous winter sun destinations, this only takes us a four hour direct flight . I also love to practice my Spanish among the locals and enjoy the wonderful cuisine. Kids love the beach and water sports.

They are gorgeous- there are a few depending on if you want a quiet gorgeous beach or a busy bustling place. Plenty of sunshine, European ambience due to being a Spanish outpost yet off the North African Coast, great local cuisine all help.
