It actually wasn't the hydrogen that destroyed the Hindenburg, contrary to popular belief; a candle set the fabric that made up the thing afire. Given new materials and no open flames, it would probably be pretty safe.
Whatever happened to the 'Hindenburg' is one thing, R101 just going up in flames at rest shows the volatile nature of the material + power source + inflatable mixture, witness the Egyptian incident where there was only one badly burnt survivor
