   Family vacation budget $2000. Where to go?
   
   Our extended family is planning a vacation/reunion. We are looking for an option that will accommodate a lot of people and doesn't require cooking food for 40 or 50 people for each meal. There are 8 families going with each family planning to spend about $2000. Any suggestions?

   I think the best thing to do with a large group, is to meet and camp somewhere.  It is really fun to get sites next to each other, and then have pot luck type dinners with everyone, and sit around the campfire in the evening.

   I would suggest you to go a place where the currency of the country is low, yet you can enjoy a high class quality living that can fill 80 people. South east asia would be good, and the airline ticket is cheap>Airasia.com

   It´s simple.  Take a Free Promotional Holiday!  There are lots to choose from if you know where to look.  If you are in Europe, then I would suggest Tenerife as a fantastic destination for a really good family holiday.  Your first week in a luxury sel-catering apartment on a beautiful resort would be completely Free - you just pay for your flights.  And a second week can be rented at a discounted cost.  If you are interested, just let me know.

   Depending on where you live, an all inclusive cruise could be an option. Right now, you can find a 3 day cruise for $250 per person. The big money comes in flying to the port the ship leaves from, going to the casino on board, cocktails, or going on expensive excursions while at sea. If you can locate a ship that is leaving from a port city that is driving distance from all of your relatives, a $2000 budget should be doable.

   Go for a cheap cruise.  You should try to get a group discount for all the people attending.  50 people going on a trip should get a discount.

   It depends where you are right now. I would suggest if that is your budget you will go to the nearest resort in your place.

    We didn't have that many people, but we did the vacation/reunion on a 7-day cruise to the Western Caribbean. No one had to cook or plan anything.  The buzz phrase is "all inclusive" unless you go to some of the specialty restaurants on board, which would cost you about the price of dinner, they call it a "cover charge".
    
    There was so much to do, on and off the ship; there were times when we did off shore excursions together and other times not, sometimes dinner with one bunch, lunch with another and typically we all had dinner together.
    
    Don't say I said it, but I bet you could get a nice group discount!  Planning in advance is key.
    
    We also have done the Orlando vacation/reunion mix and match with Universal Studios/Sea World/Disney cost about the same, with the same perks, versatility for everyone.  Again, planning ahead makes the vacation easy.  Best wishes

    Although it's been a year since this post, I'll stilI have to give another thumbs up for a cruise just in case anyone else has the same or similar question.
    
    Nobody has to cook and there are plenty of activities on board (and off) to keep everybody preoccupied with something.

    The Outer Banks of North Carolina are really nice. They are not as crowded as many other more "touristy" beaches. I especially recommend Duck, NC.  It is beautiful town located in between the Atlantic Ocean and the Currituck Sound. You can see the sun both rise and set over water and only travel a few miles!
