Siesta Key Beach voted #1 Beach in the USA

Updated on March 26, 2017

Siesta Key Beach Florida Voted America's Best Beach!

My Favorite place in America is Siesta Key Beach Florida. I have spent my last 3 vacations on Florida's Gulf Coast, and I can honestly say that it is truly paradise. The waters on the shore of Siesta Key Beach are clean, blue, and almost always around 80 degrees. What is not to love! The Sand Is pure white, and as soft as baby powder. Because the sand originates from quartz, the sand is actually cold to the touch, even when it is sunny and hot outside. My friend who travelled to the gulf coast with us this year spent the last 5 years telling me that she hates the beach. First of all, I swear she was on the beach 24/7 on our vacation, secondly she is already planning her next trip to Siesta Key Beach Florida.

All photos on this page were taken by me on our travels to Florida's Gulf Coast.

Things to do at Siesta Key Beach Florida

Siesta Key is not a boardwalk town. There is plenty of shopping and restaurants but no hustle and bustle to be found. Our favorite activities are shopping, eating, kayaking, and walking on the beach. The waves on the Gulf Coast are very mild and practically nonexistent. This was our first attempt at kayaking and my husband mastered it immediately.

Here is a photo we took of some people paddleboarding.... It is not as easy as they made it look!

Metal detecting on Siesta Key Beach Florida

Two years ago on our summer vacation we met a man that was metal detecting. He had so many interesting stories, and tons of cool stuff that he had found on Florida's beaches. We decided to buy a Metal detector and take it on our summer vacations with us. We have had a lot of fun with it, but I can not honestly say that we have found anything too exciting. Here is a picture of what we found this year.

We decided to buy the Tesoro Umax - You can check them out and buy them here.

Siesta key beaches

There are actually a few

On our first trip to siesta key beach we visited the public beach. It was very nice there, they have nice bathrooms, a small shop, and a concession area for food and beverages. Unfortunately, on our second trip, I did not last very long on the public beach. I have M.S. and my health can be unpredictable. For this reason, and because I love the beach so much, on our most recent trip we rented a hotel right on the beach. The name of the beach was crescent beach. It is still in Siesta key, but much quieter. There are many rentals in Siesta key, and a great many of them are oceanfront. So if you are like me, and can not commit to a whole day on the beach, I suggest you find a rental. There is something there for everyone.

I can not wait to go back to Florida's Gulf Coast.

Since my first visit to Siesta Key, I have had a few other family vacations. Two of them were to other beaches in the USA. One also on the gulf coast of Florida. Siesta Key is still by far my entire family's favorite. I am already planning my next trip to Siesta Key Beach Florida. I can not wait to go back. I hope you also have a chance to visit someday.
