From me to you
Fourth of July Fireworks over the Mississippi in St. Cloud, MN
I followed a great article by Kind Regards (read her hubs, great stuff) to HubPages and was pleasantly surprised to find a community of friendly people posting excellent, informative, interesting articles.
Well, I thought, if they can do it, maybe I can too. I signed up.
I travel frequently for business and have been meaning to do a little writing about the places I've been, the people that I've met, and the interesting and beautiful sights I've seen. This looks like just the place to post about them.
Grew up in Upstate NY, the real upstate, not the NYC one! Spent a few decades braving the harsh winters up there and finally, on one particularly bad, gray, blustering day, made up my mind to to move South. Shortly thereafter, I packed it in and moved down to Houston TX in pursuit of the illusive ultraviolet rays so rare in my home area! I did find them!! Sometimes way too many during those hot, humid Texas summer months.
I work in transit, specifying and inspecting the building of transit vehicles. Turns out, most manufacturers of buses and rail are located up north with more than a few located even farther up in Canada. Means I end up spending most winters dodging frostbite anyway, a little like a reverse snowbird!
I've worked in most of the States in the Union and am usually in a place long enough to get a good feel for the area and the people during my stay. I plan to write up a few of my travel experiences here. And maybe a bit about a few of my other interests. Hopefully it will be of interest to readers here.
Enjoy reading books, mostly Mystery and Science Fiction, and usually finish one every couple of days. May post a few reviews here. I like to do graphic designs, I take pictures, garden, camp, fish, surf the net, program, paint, and argue politics (I won't here, don't worry!!) I use a 27" IMac for most of my work (great sized machine if you travel a lot by car) but also run Windows and Linux. I like to write with Scrivener, a great writing program for the Mac but soon to be released on Windows. If you haven't tried this excellent program yet, try it, you may love it. Cheap too!
Hope you've enjoyed your stay and it's been great to meet you all. Please come back to see me soon.
