Travel Tips: 8 Tips To Pack Like A Pro

Travel tips to pack like a pro

If you're planning your next trip, you'll probably want to know how to pack like a pro. After all, who doesn't want to have plenty of room in their suitcase so they can bring back lots of gifts and souvenirs? Here are eight tips that will help you keep your packing simple but professional on your next trip.

The most important travel packing tips

1. Make A List And Check It Twice

It's a good idea to write down what you want to take with you before you start packing. Once you start packing, check off each item as you place it into the suitcase. It can be very easy to forget an essential item in the excitement of packing for your trip, and a list can help you keep focused on the task at hand.

You don't want to be halfway to your destination and realize you've forgotten to pack your most important travel accessories or your favorite non-wrinkle travel dress!

2. Take The Bare Essentials

You may be tempted to take a lot of clothes with you, so you have something to wear for every conceivable occasion. But if you want to have enough room in your suitcase to bring back gifts and souvenirs without having to pay for excess baggage, you need to be ruthless.

A good rule of thumb is to make a list of the clothes you need and then halve it.

 3.  Roll Up Your Clothes

You may think that it's best to fold your clothes when you put them in your suitcase, but it's not.  Rolling up your clothes is usually the best way to pack like a pro.  If you have any spare gaps in your suitcase, a rolled up t-shirt or pair of underpants can quite easily fill the gap.  And if you want to limit as many wrinkles as possible, place a piece of tissue paper under your clothes before rolling.  This will really help make your clothes as crease free as possible when you unpack your bag at your destination.

4.  Wrap Clothes Around Breakables

If you've got breakables in your suitcase, make sure you wrap some clothes around them to help protect them during transit.

 5.  Put Your Socks In Your Shoes

A handy way to save space is to place your rolled up socks in your shoes.  This will also help your shoes to retain their shape as they have something inside them.

6.  Place Your Shoes In A Bag

To keep your clothes as clean as possible, place your shoes in a cloth or plastic bag.  This way, if there's a bit of dirt on the soles, it won't transfer to your clothing.  You may have to place each shoe in a separate bag depending on how much room you have in your suitcase.

7. Pack Your Toiletries in Travel Sized Containers

You don't want to bring big bottles of shampoo and conditioner on your trip, so why not invest in some travel sized containers instead? That way, you can decant your shampoo conditioner and whatever else you need into these small containers and save on space and weight.

8. Don't Forget The Laundry Powder!

Doing laundry while you're on a trip can be a real drag, but unless you want to live in dirty clothes for the duration, it's a necessary evil. One way of quickly doing your laundry is bring a small amount of laundry powder with you and washing out your clothes in your bathroom basin and hang them up to dry. Depending on the fabric, they'll be dry by morning!

So there you have it, eight tips on how to pack like a pro.  If you use these tips for your next trip, your packing will be that much easier!
