I have a wonderful and supportive husband and I'm a mom to 2 beautiful children. I am also a Warrant Officer in the Army Reserve. I have been in the military for 15 years. Being a mom in the military poses so many challenges that most people don't face and don't even think of. I have a lot of trips I have to take that keeps me away from home for months at a time, I have deployments where I am gone for a year at a time and sometimes, even at my home station, I have to work long hours. Plans change a lot and there are more times than I can count that I have seen their sad little faces because of it. But because if our lifestyle, I think my kids have grown into very responsible and good little preteens. They are very smart and socialable, since they have to make new friends every few years. They understand the little things are important and they know the true value of family time. They have a good understanding of life, as much as you can at their age, and they know there is more to life than what is inside the 4 walls of our house. They have been able to have experiences and see places most kids their age have never been able to do or see.
