I grew up on the streets of Laredo, TX, a red state bordering the country of Mexico. We often snuck across the border for kicks by ducking down in the car while security inspected the car. I realized I had a knack for writing when I was about 13 years old after reading books just for the sake of reading; reading until my eyes grew fuzzy and couldn't focus while my mother called me to supper. I eventually left the old bordertown when I was accepted into St. Edward's University in Austin, TX. There, I graduated with a degree in English, Writing, and Rhetoric. Shortly after graduating, I became a lead English teacher (certified 4th - 8th grades) where I worked with improving the English language by interacting with these Spanish-speaking students. After three years, I resigned and took up Marketing in the insurance industry. I currently work at a family-owned insurance company where we deal with Workers Compensation injuries. I have been dabbling in the insurance industry for the past 6-7 years now and am growing much fonder of it each day.
