Heather is a writer, blogger, scientist, educator, spiritualist, and mother. Having spent her college years and the first decade following college working in scientific research, exploring information on a wide variety of health, environment, interesting science, and many other topics is second nature. Adopting two children with special needs, and changing career fields to a work from home mother doing freelance writing and working partime in special education, has given her a great deal of insight into the many challenges of child rearing, dealing with medical, developmental, and educational needs, as well as allowing more time to delve into exploration of both self-reliance and a deeper connection to self and spirituality. While a change in career and later divorce left her struggling with poverty, she found creative ways to make ends meet and keep a positive outlook. Raising two children with special needs, working both from home and in the schools, living in community with others, and helping her family through many changes, has given her much many insights into relationships of all kinds. A recent diagnosis of diabetes has spurred her scientific mind into looking at ways to improve health, change eating habits, and reduce stress in an inherently stressful life situation. Creating hubs to share what she has learned with others is high on her list of priorities.
