I am 34 years old and very blessed to have loving friends, a wonderful husband and a very supportive family. My life hasn't been easy to say the least. I have had over 30 surgeries in my life... some major, some minor. I have always believed that life isn't about how much time you have, it is about how well you are spending that time. God has blessed me with the knowledge that I have a greater purpose to serve, and that I am to learn from my experiences. Looking back I have learned a great deal of strength, patience, love and the importance of the little things in life. I am sharing my story for everyone out there that needs support and who need a helping hand. A lot of congenital patients don't know what to expect. Each one of us is different but we deal with the same tests, the same surgeries, the same outcomes. I have Ventricular Septal Defect with Situs Inversis, which is the short of it. I had the Fontan procedure in 1992, stent placement in 2001, Pacemaker placement in 2002, Mechanical AV Valve placement in 2009, and the Maze procedure in 2010. So, here's my story... even when it is really hard my life is worth fighting for everyday.
