Well, I am a Civil engineer. The life of an engineer is as same as the roller coaster ride. There r both ups and downs as u have the most memorable moments in the hostel while the amount of time wasted is the biggest con.

A dedicated set or group of Engineers, who are responsible for the growth of society and country in the right direction. They have the leadership qualities and obviously will have an excellent career ahead of them(in whatever field they are into).

The life of a civil engineer can't be just explained or experienced to a common man unless and until he becomes an engineer. There are several types of job-based on civil engineering but the first thing when anyone thinks about civil engineer their brain displays them a guy wearing a white cap, holding a plan, standing in constructing a site. Here I'm not going to say you about white-collar civil engineer jobs, but about the most challenging site engineer job. The life of a site engineer is similar to a life of a soldier in the military and as proof, in ancient times civil engineering was named military engineering. The life of a site engineer starts as a supervisor, followed by a junior engineer, assistant engineer, project engineer, manager keeps ongoing. Only those who truly love this profession can only sustain in this field but should have strong health and willpower and also an important role that is team play, in this profession you can't play a single man army role. You should compromise the architect, structural engineer, construction/ management consultant, client and finally you should deal with contractors, material suppliers and labours. It's a very hard thing to bring dreams into reality but we as site engineers, accept your dreams and turn them into reality, just imagine transferring a plan in a piece of paper into superstructures in a site it's definitely not so easy. We the ones who struggle a lot, never get appreciated even though we work 12 to 14 hours a day even somedays we never go homes during the deadline and crucial times. We have to plan our work according to nature's conditions a sudden rain can completely ruin our work plan for several days and another big task is handling labours. even we can predict weather forecast but never the labour mentality. Apart from these hurdles we have a lot of adventurous and interesting things such as operating JCBs, cranes, driving 10 wheelers, operating construction equipment, works at very heights ( just imagine a view from the 25th floor without any walls around you ) and the work during the night even though it's hated it's most enjoyed days of every site engineer during their early days or during their bachelor's life.
