I have been on this earth long enough to have traveled many paths. As I discovered who I was and what I wanted to be when I grew up, I chose more new paths . As I grew up, I settled into the roles I had chosen, and began walking down the same trails of life over and over again as a creature of habit. In sum, I became a woman, mother, sister, aunt, great aunt, wife, cousin, coworker, dog owner, cat lover, people watcher, and step grandmother with joys and fears and dreams like most people have. But now, I am feeling the pull of experiencing a new path.

Correction. Several new paths!

I am not talking about taking the fork to the left instead of the right. Nope! I am talking about the ones I cannot see yet. The ones my heart and soul drive me to when all my eyes can see are the branches and bushes so overgrown there is no possible way through. Adventure is not in my wheelhouse. Middle age for me will not be jumping out of an airplane or climbing the peaks in Colorado. It will be me grabbing a machete, cutting and clearing the obstacles obscuring the views that my heart and soul see so clearly.

This is where it begins, using the computer keys as my machete, I will write my way to the clear view of my next path. I will don my hiking boots and ignore the naysayers in my head and listen only to the navigation of my soul.

  There are times in our lives we are most certainly in a forward momentum! We've got this! it's nothing but full steam ahead! "The past is in the past" "nothing but clear skies ahead!" Then suddenly your sleeve catches the door jam jerking you back bringing you back to an unfinished pile of guilt.
