Joined 8 years ago from Houston, Texas
I am a tireless seeker of knowledge, occasional purveyor of wisdom and also, coincidentally, an avid reader and aspiring writer. I am self-employed and own Modern Legal, LLC, a company that provides training workshops for area employers to keep their employees and supervisors abreast of employment law issues, and I am also a motivational speaker. I was a practicing attorney for 20 years, before moving to Houston, Texas. My legal experience is in employment law and litigation, human resources legal issues, family law, and I have an extensive background in criminal trial matters, both felonies and misdemeanors, including quasi-criminal matters in family court representing defendants and children in child protection matters.
I have always enjoyed writing, creating short stories from an early age, but never considered it as anything more than a hobby. The closing of my law practice re-awakened my imagination, and since then, ideas have been piling up, eager to find their way onto the page. While working on writing and publishing my first novel, I have written a dozen or so e-books on various topics, primarily aimed at legal issues facing Human Resources Directors and Managers.
I started writing for HubPages to have an outlet to share my thoughts, experiences, opinions, and expert knowledge in a variety of areas. It’s my hope that you find what you’re searching for here and enjoy reading my work as much as I do in writing it.
My Philosophy on Life - In all philosophical pursuits of wisdom and the knowledge of life, true understanding and reflection comes when one first seeks to understand in the light of faith in God, the creator of heaven and earth. I believe our faith in eternal salvation demonstrates that we hold theological and philosophical truths that exceed human reason. More specifically, my philosophy on life is first to treat others as I want to be treated. My pursuit to be the “best I can be” is directly related to my passion, and in understanding that incremental efforts can yield exponential results.
I earned my Juris Doctorate in Law in 1993 at the University of Mississippi School of Law, affectionately referred to as “Ole` Miss”, and commonly known as the Harvard of the south. It was a grueling three years, but would not trade away the experience. Member of the Judicial Review my last two years. My writing style and research methods have their origins here. Oxford, Mississippi is picturesque small town, and wonderful place to raise a family. Bachelor of Science – Double Major in Mass Communications and Chemistry – 1989 I am an honors graduate of the lauded communications and theater program at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I hope my work reflects this training and education I have a dedicated desire to search for the truth of the matter at hand, where ever that may lead me, and share what I've learned here about what makes a narcopath tick. So stick around and have a peak into my heart and thoughts!
