63Being an artist has given me the opportunity to grow as an individual through the ever changing challenge of interpreting nature. While painting, I am continual learning. By expanding my understanding of space, color and light, I have trained myself to see and then capture the moment. This has fine tuned my senses to see things I would not have noticed before. I appreciate the color of a shadow falling across a road, the soft mist over a mountain and the sparkle of the sun on the water. Recreating these experiences in my paintings for others to enjoy is my definition of success.
I was juried into the Oil Painters of America 20th Annual National Juried Exhibition, won an award at the Carmel Art Festival, a plein air event, and had my work included in American Art Collector magazine in the 2011 June and September issues. I have had several one-woman shows, expanded my teaching credentials to include an ongoing plein air class with Kline Academy of Fine Art, taught figure drawing at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art and teach three online classes with Artists Network University. I was a finalist in the LADOT Tap Card Competition and was also honored as the featured artist at the premiere Inland Empire art festival “Art, for Heaven’s Sake!”
