Cat Behavior - How I Know My Cat's Food Bowl is Empty

Updated on August 21, 2019

The Cat Approach

Trust me. A cat will let you know what it wants. Perhaps it will start with an audible greeting. A sharp meow to get your attention. Then, it may start walking away, towards its bowl. It may stop and turn around and look at you.

Again, it may meow. It may come back to motivate you to walk. It may even try to get closer to your ears, by standing on its hind legs. Again, it may walk away and turn around to make sure you are following.

Yes. That cat will herd you to your destination. Its cat dish. Which, of course, is as empty as a cat dish can be. Which means that you must go into your food storage area and procure a container full of new food to drop into its dish. Once you have fulfilled this request, your time here is done.

You are dismissed.

and, there is the dog.
and, there is the dog.

Yes A Cat Owns Me

Yes. I filled the cat dish. Then, I filled the plate that the kittens eat from.

What do you suppose the dog wants?

Betty Wells, thank you for your comment. She has kittens that she brings up to the house from the shed that they live by. They are still wild to me and it's spooky to hear the swish of the dog door when they beeline out of the garage as I go out there... I'm sure they will warm up and will probably be just like her when they are older...

It is interesting how pets know how to manage us more than we know what to do with them.
