Cat sprayed by a skunk....what to do?!

Updated on February 27, 2013

My cat got sprayed by a skunk the other night, right when I was getting ready for bed! OMG! So I went to Google and found where someone used baking soda and peroxide. I got a bowl mixed the baking soda (I didn't measure) and peroxide but I also added some vinegar for the heck of it, mixed it with a little water and then I grabbed the cat and put her in the sink. She was not thrilled but I held her by the back of the neck and got her wet with some warm water then poured the bowl of baking soda and peroxide mix on her and rubbed it in very well. I rinsed her with warm water and dried her off. I grabbed a small amount of coconut oil and rubbed it all over her. I only did that because I wanted her to be able to clean herself without tasting the vinegar and all animals LOVE coconut oil and its very healthy for them :) I smelled her fur and the skunk smell was gone!!! I was excited! The whole process only took about 15-20 minutes. I told my husband about it the next day and he said he couldn't smell any skunk smell at all.
